You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

Did multiple trade-ins today. Not gonna reveal the number but everything went smoothly. During trade-in BB employee didn't ask me the carrier he himself selected T-mobile. In one store a manager did my upgrade order with trade-in. He said what's the trade-in device, I said iphone 12 mini and gave it to him and no questions were asked about the carrier here too. I'm now thinking BB memo is either fake or limited to a particular states. I hope everyone was able to take advantage of the offer with no hiccups.

Typically after a few months with Tmobile, they are ok to unlock. Just call and tell them you will travel internationally.
