A working and effective object avoidance, without exposing your bedroom to the internet via built-in camera, there aren't really any other choices beside this model. I buy two of this for a price of a high end Roomba with equivalent features and total durability any day.
Despite good quality and overall features, Roborock is no match and still lost in their marketing research to find out what consumer really need, lol.
I did have a problem connecting it to Wi-Fi : it doesn't like mesh networks and I had to turn off the 5ghz band in the Eero (google it, it's easy to do).
Am now going through its first mapping of my first floor.
Best thing so far? It fits under our couch!! I shudder to think what it's like under there before today!
We had it setup every evening 2-3 hours before we go to bed.

I have no experience with AliExpress. Would appreciate your opinion and info.
For example, in the US, 8 waste bags go for around $20. On Ali, you can find 20 for $25. They may not be genuine parts, but they'll probably work.
My guess is that the inexpensive ozmo pro is either a 99% functional replica, or just the original part at the local market price. If I'm wrong, someone will surely correct me.
The only cheaper auto empty bin system is from shark (when it's on sale) but it uses VSLAM (plus floor tracker in new models) so it does not work in the dark.
Personally I would only use a robot vacuum at night so might matter to others.
I now understand why the major selling point for the current generation Roomba is pet waste avoidance.
The software is the worst part about this thing as some people mention. Dividing rooms is my biggest complaint by far. It used to randomly lose my floor plan map and thus all my rooms and exclusion zones but that hasn't happened in a long time thankfully.
I will say that this thing might have 3D avoidance but it won't avoid a pile of dog shit. One of our dogs broke through the barrier to our upstairs and left a pile of turds in one of the rooms and this thing kept on truckin' right through it one afternoon. 0/10 would not recommend.
Overall, I am very happy with both of my Deebot T8+. I had a Roomba 980 before this and I hated that thing. It would get randomly stuck on nothing and it didn't have a self emptying feature which is a must have for me. The lidar on this makes it seem more efficient at how it divides and conquers vacuuming each room.
I will say that your best bet is buying third party brushes, bags, accessories, etc. from someone like Ali Express or similar as the Ecovacs branded official ones are insanely overpriced, especially for the bags that go into the auto-emptying base station since they need replaced about once a month.
