No. This battery provides more current for brushless applications but same amount of capacity. Watch a YouTube video to see performance comparisons. The 4x number is comparing vs a battery roughly 4x smaller.

The only thing that makes sense is that "standard lithium" means their small regular battery. 4AH is the capacity that is the total energy which is directly proportional to run time.

"Brushless" motors are a major selling point. If they aren't proudly bragging about the tool being brushless, it won't have the extra contacts and won't be able to take advantage of the extra amperage from high performance batteries.
It is brushless and HP no extra contacts. I thought the HP brushless had them, that's all.

So strange. I ordered it for $79 and the price is now $99. It was the Midtown store. I just rechecked and it is in fact $99.

These are ideal for PowerWheels upgrade. I have two (wired in parallel) in my kids jeep and it goes so much faster and the batteries last quite a while, but having a whole bunch of Ryobi batteries means the fun never has to stop. I used a couple of cheap refurbished Ryobi flashlights as the battery mounts and wired them into the jeep.
Genius!

ah come on now. a quick browse on ebay will yield that deal every day. muhahaha if only you know how many of these stupid 4ah batteries I have. currently on cl I'm offering 4ahs for 45 each pretty much bundling them as an 8 pack fiesta. or the mega gigante 12 battery combo. a while back I had a little too many of these and went the 40 dollar route.

I like having a mix of all sizes of batteries. The 2 ah's are great for drills, drivers, and sanders used in fine woodworking as well as the LED flashlights. You don't need or want the weight of a 4-6 ah battery if all you're doing is drilling pilot holes!

I like the 3's in things like reciprocating saws, and then the 4's are obviously vastly preferred for yard tools.

You should be confused. Everyone else is too.

They're doing this deliberately and the bottom line is they may make improvements, but it's more so to increase profits, pure and simple.

The regular 18v One+ batteries use 18650 cells, and guess what? The new HP batteries also use 18650 cells.

Did they optimize their discharge efficiency? Who knows, but that would be in the tool, not the battery cells..

I called Ryobi and got a bunch of gobbledygook. If you have NEW brush-less tools with the two NEW contacts, decide what you want to buy and buy it. There's no comparison chart or coherent explanation of the differences.. It's pure, 100% intentional, obfuscation intended to overwhelm people with bullshit.
So to put it plain and simple. The $79 4ah is best value? Screw the HP brand?

Edit: there is one advantage to HP which I went with. I don't know how long the old batches have sat on the shelves and there is a chance those batteries were on shelf way too long to not hold a charge.i bought HP not bc I think they are better but bc I wanted batteries that I know I will personally keep charging to ensure they are maintained properly. Old stocks of batteries may not hold charge which is the risk we take.

Also I went for 6ah which only comes as HP.

And also drill + 4ah is more than 1 foot which is important when putting together the cube shelf. (1 ft). In this case must use smaller 1.5 or 2 ah.

I have brush-less tools, but bought the One+ 18v 4.0ah batteries. I didn't buy the new "HP" because my new brush-less tools lack the new contacts, so.....

When a company can't show demonstrable improvements (other than to their bottom line) , or even discuss those said improvements intelligently and unequivocally, then my BS meter gets pegged at 10....

So far, their stated improvement is only over the older ni-cad batteries from what I've seen.
