This one has 3GB Ram vs 2GB Ram on the Moto E. Also, a larger screen and I think a larger battery.
I turned off mobile data on moto e. It is backup phone in case of emergency like natural disaster... different network than my normal phone
and it does everything it needs to fast enough
The bulk of the reviews aren't germane to the phone or they're from people who don't seem to understand how to use phones (your typical QVC buyer, in other words).

download offline maps, it'll use a lot less data and run faster

Here maps (literally named "Here") from what was Nokia is great. You can download just the countries (or US states) you need over Wi-Fi and then enter offline mode when you're on the road.

Careful. The 2020 G is great. I have it.

This is the 2021 version and it apparently isn't.

https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/moto-g-power-2021

"The 2021 Moto G Power has adequate power and battery life, but it's a downgrade from the 2020 model and can't compete with the OnePlus Nord N10 5G."

That is a review for the Moto G Power, not this phone which is the Moto G Play.

The included plan uses Verizon, but once unlocked phone should be usable on any network (just like other Motorola phones).

Can I use point to extend the plan for 1 more year? How many points it costs? The description is very confusing.

Argh. I give up. I can't keep up with the Moto naming schemes.

Yes. The number of points you need will vary base on the plan you want. For example, for a 365 days plan with 1500 minutes talk, 1500 text and 1.5GB is $125.

Every 1000 points equal $10. So you will need 13,000 points to get the 1500/1500/1.5GB plan for 365 days

Obviously if the plan you want has more talk, text and data, you will need more points.

The $35 QVC phone posted here yesterday has better reviews.

Not sure what to do.

This phone has more RAM than the Moto E. I've noticed that apps get dumped out of memory on my Moto E. So multitasking is impractical. An extra gig or memory may help you avoid this problem.

I got this phone 2 days ago at Target ($49.99) for my kid (reason: ATT forcing certain phone to be cut off by next year Feb and for some reason my kid not able to make or received call), so for $50 (I've checked is in their "whitelist"), might as well just get it while I am at the store. No NFC thou. It did freezes after my setup and update (Android 11). After the update the phone have to restart? It stuck on the blue logo screen. I have to do the factory reset to get it back on. Camera is fine (not cannon or "iphone" fine but clear/sharp enough) For basic user, it's a good enough phone for this price. It gets warm to the touch pretty quick.

I did not use the phone so I can't answer if it lag during browsing/video watching or If call answering is clear/good. My kid hear my just fine.
The $49.99 is locked to ATT. Unlocked is $169.99 thou.

If I buy this AT&T prepaid from Walmart, can I insert my own AT&T simcard and use it? I have AT&T unlimited family plan. I really have no idea how this prepaid phones work.

Postpaid sim will work with prepaid, ATT carrier and/or any unlocked phone. This uses nano sim. ( info. incase someone uses Standard or Micro. those who still use flip phone ) But if prepaid user wanting to switch, will have to use the sim card that come with and update the sim # and iMei on their account. Postpaid customer don't have to. Just popped your sim in will do.

I bought one for myself to try on Red Pocket. Still setting it up and haven't upgraded to Android 11 yet. On the G Power, after the upgrade to A11, a lot of people complained about various issues, lost features and lagginess. I only had it for a couple days before upgrading that one so didn't have time to notice. Now, I'm a little leery of upgrading the G Play. Don't think it can be bypassed or skipped however.
