$100 price less 30% off coupon =$70
One of the newer Lavazza Blue single serve espresso pod machines. Must use Lavazza Blue pods.
I've seen listed where exact amounts of water (up to 8 oz) can be programmed for each of the buttons, but the Amazon listing indicates only 1 button is reprogramable.

So shipping back used pods via mail for them to recycle is their green solution to the issue? The trucks that carry mail are still using gasoline, rubber tire, lub oil, etc

Made in China if that matters. Last cheapo blue machine (LB910/$50) was made in Italy.

often there will be sale on italybestcoffee site . For 70$ you get machine with a 36pack of pods. worth around 20$ . capsules on Amazon are around 50cents. kcup/nespresso has multiple choices of coffee at lower prices.

This is a different machine with a different panel.

Quote from MrSkeptic :
The top button is indeed factory set, just like my LB910:

The control panel consists of two buttons.
The upper button is for espresso dose (factory-set amount: approximately 40 ml.)
The lower button is for the free dose as factory-set, i.e. the user can regulate it. The dose dispensed by pressing this button can also be programmed.

Are there any real expresso machines worth getting around this price range? I've got a butt ton of ground coffee I'd like to make expresso out of.
Not really, all the coffee fanatics will suggest $300 at the minimum and a similarly priced grinder. Depends how into coffee you are but I just bought a delonghi stilosa for $80 to start. It's been okay so far and I'll have to compare to better ones down the line.

I'm using Blue for 2 years 1-2 cups a day. Good system for espresso -- better than nespresso, different league than keurig('cause it's an espresso machine). Only problem: capsules are not sold in stores, need to hunt deals and buy in 100 packs.

i have the older model of this and the espresso is fantastic. The only thing that sucks is that the blue capsules have been going up in price like crazy.

I am tired of the bland watered down taste from the basic Keurig single kcup coffee. Not very experienced. Is an espresso machine like this be the next step?

I only did instant coffee at home before. Drank most of my coffee on the road or at work.
With WFH most of last year I tried a moka pot, it seemed like more work for every day. I got a Keurig and didn't like it honestly. Then got this machine and loved it.
I do about 1-2 pods a day. Have tried 3 different flavors. Coffee is great. I generally do milk and coffee and never preferred watered down drip coffee. Occasionally I'll try to froth the milk and attempt a latte.

I'm trying to figure out the differences between the LB300 (the model in this deal) and the LB910.
Currently, I do have the latter, but I was thinking it is time for an upgrade. I've had the LB910 model for about three years, and I'm not sure if the LB300 is better, worse or just the same.

Plastic pods, bummer. At least Nespresso claims to recycle them with free return of spent pods. I have a Nespresso and love it. Also have a real espresso machine at work and can hardly tell the difference. Quick Google search shows these pods are roughly half as much, but to me it's worth the price for Nespresso from an environmental perspective. I'm no tree hugger, but this seems like a simple way to help.

Totally agree on the environmental costs of shipping back the aluminum pods -- it's a feel-good solution that gets some to think buying the Nespresso pods is somehow virtuous. It's not. The packaging materials you use when you ship them plus the fuel, etc. required, PLUS the energy used in the recycling process all have an environmental cost.

If you put a little effort into regularly cleaning up your neighborhood, and recycling what you can from the trash you gather, you've more than offset any damage done by using the plastic pods sold by Lavazza (or for the Nespresso machines by companies like Trader Joes and others).

The Stilosa & other cheap Delonghi machines can make "real" espresso [youtube.com]. You just need a non-pressurized basket [ereplacementparts.com] & a burr grinder. The filter basket is smaller, 51mm vs 58, so use 3/4 the coffee (12-15g instead of 16-20) and 3/4 the water (24-37ml instead of 32-50). Grind fine enough so that extraction takes 20-30 seconds, and there's no reason it should make worse espresso than machines up to $1000.

That's another reason why refillable capsules (if the Lavazza blue ones even worked) are a horrible choice. Refilling a tiny pod will be way more tedious than pulling a shot, and you need to do it twice to get a double.
