$100 price less 30% off coupon =$70
One of the newer Lavazza Blue single serve espresso pod machines. Must use Lavazza Blue pods.
I've seen listed where exact amounts of water (up to 8 oz) can be programmed for each of the buttons, but the Amazon listing indicates only 1 button is reprogramable.

So shipping back used pods via mail for them to recycle is their green solution to the issue? The trucks that carry mail are still using gasoline, rubber tire, lub oil, etc

Plastic pods plastic plastic plastic, coffee tastes an smells plasticky with these type of machines.
Do any of them use foil liners in the pods and line the water tank with metal ?

A coffee machine that use pods instead of regular grinded coffee is just never a good deal.
Once a week, I grind coffee beans for the resuable pods. Cheaper and convinient.

Really? Where did you buy the reusable pods?

Personally I like this machine. Amazing coffee. And the 30 usd more is nothing compare to what you save in coffee.

I had a Blue machine. The pods are larger than Nespresso, so you get a really powerful espresso. The problem is that they only sell in boxes of 100, so there's no way to try out different flavors or get a variety pack, so I quickly got sick of the flavors I bought. I prefer the variety of Nespresso, especially with frequent sales on Peet's capsules on Amazon, and even with two varieties at Trader Joe's. I have a $20 Walmart machine for K-cups and a little Nespresso machine, but I've found that Lavazza is better in ground/whole bean form than in capsules, whether it's Blue/Nespresso/K-Cup versions, and I find their Italian versions sold in bricks better than the ones sold in grocery stores here.

The Stilosa & other cheap Delonghi machines can make "real" espresso [youtube.com]. You just need a non-pressurized basket [ereplacementparts.com] & a burr grinder. The filter basket is smaller, 51mm vs 58, so use 3/4 the coffee (12-15g instead of 16-20) and 3/4 the water (24-37ml instead of 32-50). Grind fine enough so that extraction takes 20-30 seconds, and there's no reason it should make worse espresso than machines up to $1000.

That's another reason why refillable capsules (if the Lavazza blue ones even worked) are a horrible choice. Refilling a tiny pod will be way more tedious than pulling a shot, and you need to do it twice to get a double.
Thank you for the tips! I've definitely been researching and aiming for a quality conical burr grinder to try to get a better espresso grind at home.

Also feel validated that out of the cheap machines, my research helped pick the right one! Looking forward to stepping up to a legit machine in the future but for now I'll do what I can with this one.

A superautomatic espresso machine is a much better solution than reusable pods. There are professionally reconditioned Gaggia Breras [ebay.com] on ebay for $279. Keep the convenience of a pod machine & save 50-80% on coffee.

What is and isn't real espresso is debatable. There are meaningful differences between how these machines and conventional espresso machines operate. This machine makes a 40ml espresso from 9g of coffee in 10-15 seconds. That's half the coffee and half the time that would be used in a conventional espresso.
Thanks! Had no idea you could get a superautomatic for so cheap.

Lavazza really does make it difficult to pick this machine that strictly only accepts blue pods:

There are three variants of Lavazza Pods - Lavazza Blue, Modo Mio, and Espresso Cap / Mile Cafe Barista. These pods are different from each other and not compatible with machines for the other pods.
Lavazza Blue pods are compatible with all Lavazza Blue machines. Modo Mio pods are compatible with Modo Rio machines and Mile Cafe Barista is compatible with the Mile Café Barista coffee machine.

Got one along with a box of blue cafe crema lungo pods. Tastes burnt and bitter. Also have a Gaggia brera and it makes significantly better espresso, though also not great.

Plastic pods, bummer. At least Nespresso claims to recycle them with free return of spent pods. I have a Nespresso and love it. Also have a real espresso machine at work and can hardly tell the difference. Quick Google search shows these pods are roughly half as much, but to me it's worth the price for Nespresso from an environmental perspective. I'm no tree hugger, but this seems like a simple way to help.

I feel the same way! I regret buying one last year. But! Not sure if you saw one the replies here, you can get a regular espresso machine and buy "ese pods". Totally game changer for me.
