I used C-clamps for several years to retract calipers but then needed a wind-back tool for the calipers on my son's Kia and bought this kit from Amazon which can do push-back calipers too. Not going back to C-clamps again!

Not wedded to this brand and Amazon shows a bunch of different ones in the $20-ish price range
I got a bunch of these last year to upgrade my similar harbor freight clamps. So far no problems. Basic no frills clamps that work great. I also added hockey tap on the handles to tighten them without slippage. Just youtube hockey tape and clamps.

How big of an improvement are these over the harbor freight ones? Do you still incorporate the HF ones at all or did you trash them when upgrading? Thx

You might not see an issue with the shorter ones, but the HF ones tend to buckle when you tighten the longer ones. These ones are also more smooth.

.
Yes, or perhaps buy the DeWalt, Jorgensen, etc. clamps with much nicer handles.

Reviews say the DeWalt do not have deep enough ridges on the bar, but I have the Jorgensen and know they do.

Will this work on car brakes to retract the calipers? I have 6" C-clamp which is heavy and barely enough to fit.

Are these better than the identical Dewalt clamp set that is regularly this price?
DEWALT 12 in. and 6 in. 600 lb. Bar Clamps (4-Pack) w/2.5 in. Throat Depth

Smaller one will. But you can get a C clamp for less than $5 if needed.

I have kept the harbor freight ones, but I rarely use them.

Thanks, I bought 4 sets 2 weeks ago for a project where I need to glue up a bunch of 4X4 legs assembled from smaller stock to get true 4X4 legs and not 3.5X3.5 plus it makes cutting the dado for the joint super easy. HD just PM'd via text, so a free $20. Great clamps for $5 each. I love the K clamps, but they are $$$$ and heavy.

Huh, thanks for sharing this. It looks slick but I can't get past single purpose tools taking up shop space. I have a 9" C-Clamp that I use for brakes and all kinds of stuff, plus it stores with the rest of my clamps.

I normally use trigger clamps, can someone provide insight how one is better than the other, or if there is a difference for use.

It's funny you ask cause I've used them to turn the calipers. It crudely did the job but they will slip periodically and you'll soon notice you need to apply pressure while turning.
Aside from that if you do wood work you'll need at least 2 pairs to get work done

How do they compare to the k-body revo clamps?
