Just to be clear, I think many folks posting here are incorrect.

The "normal" almost always "sale" is $80 off the tires and $40 off install (IF YOU ARE A PLUS MEMBER).

This is the same $80 off the tires but free install to EVERY member.

It actually is a deal--esp if you aren't a PLUS member.
This is not true. Tires can be purchased deflated. If you choose to have them installed then they will be inflated.
They run this sale almost all the time. Seems like all the time. Pretty much always except for very short time that they don't. It's most of the time.

Might have considered the deal, if the selection was better. The ONLY snow tires listed are Perelli's.....and living in not only a "snow belt" state, but having to drive the "lake effect" band (from Erie, PA to Watertown, NY), through heavier, deeper snow/slush/ice, those wouldn't be my first choice of tires to use.
Get some Goodyear Winter Command (or even better, some Bridgestone Blizzaks) in on this deal, and I might pull the trigger.

Have you looked at Michelin CrossClimate2? Those are really good on snow and icy roads and can be driven all year around without having to switch between all season and winter tires.

I just don't do tires at Sam's anymore.

They are not in the biz of doing tires.

It takes too long.

I am in/out of Discount Tyre in 30 mins when I do by appointments and they mean it.

Was decent years ago, like many other service industries the workers are from the bottom of the barrel now, not touching my cars. It's a shame......at least near me.
I have a manual transmission car, and I had to drive the car in and out of the service bay a few years ago.

AT Mavis Tire they told me that the tire installer was afraid to drive trucks like Jeeps and pickups into the bays. At Sam's recently they were balancing the wheels by placing all the weights on the inboard of the rim, even when the machine said outboard. They also barely spoke English....

This is true at my Sam's as well, but I've heard other stores are better than mine. Sams has the best installation package there is. They include free roadside assistance. But I do agree that my store, and it appears other stores, can be bad about service.

They do not allow me to purchase tires now and install after two weeks.

Has anyone tried this?

Placed an order from some Michelin Defenders, called local store after to check stock. They said it's a special order item, but that I didn't need to stop in to pay for them during the promo. Said that the price when the order was placed would be honored, regardless of when they are received/installed. Can anyone confirm?

My Sam's said the opposite....that I would need to come into the store today or tomorrow to pay in order to get $160 in savings ($80 off tires and free installation worth $80). They specifically said if I waited until my order arrived (estimated 3-5 days) that I would NOT get the $160 in savings and would be charged regular price.

My Sam's is busy but does a great job with tires. However, it's 60 miles each way so driving there to pay today/tomorrow and then going back again for installation when the tires arrive in 3-5 days kills this deal for me.

Well I went over there. I have an 2000 Xterra. They were willing to put on tires bigger and smaller than I have (I'm NOT kidding) because that's what the computer said was OK. Problem is those two sizes are hard to get. Just for record, 265/70/15 and 235/70/15 are OK, but a 235/75/15 is not.
