Just to be clear, I think many folks posting here are incorrect.

The "normal" almost always "sale" is $80 off the tires and $40 off install (IF YOU ARE A PLUS MEMBER).

This is the same $80 off the tires but free install to EVERY member.

It actually is a deal--esp if you aren't a PLUS member.
This is not true. Tires can be purchased deflated. If you choose to have them installed then they will be inflated.
They run this sale almost all the time. Seems like all the time. Pretty much always except for very short time that they don't. It's most of the time.

On the subject of tires, unrelated to this sale, honestly, how much do tires matter to the majority of us? I'd say, not much. I was torn between a dirt cheap $50 tire from Pep Boys and the Michelin 4S (the premier summer tire) for a BMW 3 series. I ended up spending the $200 per tire for the Michelins but having buyer's remorse. Truth is, the majority of our driving is on interstates with no curves. What does it matter if you have the stickiest rubber or best handling? Unless you track your car and are going for the fastest lap times, I don't think it even matters in normal city/highway driving.

I leave plenty of space between me and the car in front so the argument that shorter stopping distances will help doesn't even really factor. If you somehow run into the guy in front of you and the difference was inferior rubber, then maybe you're following the guy way too close.

Regular prices before discount ($80 off on 4 + free install) but out of stock around Chicago (no option to order)

129.63 Pirelli P4 Four Seasons Plus - 215/55R17 94V Tire
131.47 Pirelli Cinturato P7 A/S Plus II - 215/55R17 94H Tire
138.88 Pirelli Cinturato P7 A/S Plus II - 215/55R17 94V Tire

Was looking 205/55R16 for a Civic and no option to order Pirelli tires on that either
Thanks! I Went with 4 Yokohama Ascend LX 215/55R17 94V for $112/each from Amazon of all places. I had always liked the treadwear rating of these, but I wasn't really considering it, because I didn't want to pay $150 per tire. The Pirelli's weren't cheaper there, but these were $35 less than anywhere I'd seen - a savings of $140/set ;-)

Went to pickup tires with installation today but cashier said couldn't apply the free install. Mentioned customer service's statement but the guy said cs didn't understand the new policy. No manager on site so I just asked to cancel my order, didn't want to bother with this BS any more.

I have a manual transmission car, and I had to drive the car in and out of the service bay a few years ago.

Nice. I finally sold my 2011 Accord EX coupe w/manual transmission that I purchased new, with super low miles.

I made the mistake of trying to save a few bucks and back when Sears had crazy deals with the SYWR program I got great tires cheap, that included lifetime tire rotations. I went there for a rotation one day and was watching them from the waiting area, they finished so I went to the cashier to get my keys. After waiting 15 minutes I asked where the heck my car was, they didn't have the keys and my car wasn't in the shop or in the lot. They told me it's their policy to take it for a test drive after.

Finally 30-45 minutes later my car shows up, only 2 miles on the odo over what I left it at. But my clutch felt strange, and shifting into any gear felt different - gone was the slightly mechanical resistance you feel going into any gear. Now it just felt empty, no resistance, like something had broken. That said it worked and since I didn't have proof of wrongdoing I was SOL.

I broke the cardinal rule of owning a stickshift. Don't let anyone else drive it!

The tires arrived at the local Sam's store. They were insisting I have to pay for the $80 installation. But after arguing by showing the email and the chat, they gave in and honored the $80 discount and $80 free install. So a total of $160 off.

Not that bad of a price but had to go through all these Sam's BS.

Our local Tire Depot is currently selling 4 tires for the price of 3 and beats Sams by a large margin.
Thanks for this recommendation. It saved me an additional $50 compared to the Sam's Club sale (which I thought was a good deal!) on a set of Cross Climate 2 tires I purchased. The tires I ordered from Sam's at the start of the sale aren't even in stock yet and I probably would have had to haggle with them to get the promised savings, since the promotion has ended. American Tire Depot had them in-store for me within 24-hours for install. This is an instance where the small guy beats the big guy in price and service.

FYI -- I just noticed that American Tire Depot appears to only be in California, so this is kind of limited in scope. But for those of us living on the "best coast" Smilie it's the best tire deal around.

Prices for these tires are completely inflated. Pass.
Of the nine I have available in 215/65R15 a few are same price as TireRack to the penny, and two are cheaper at Sams by a decent margin..

edit: I was referring to all available, but the $80 off ones are about the same.

Michelins are overrated. A family member bought a set of Michelins rated for either 60k or 80k miles,....I cant recall, but they only got 30k out of them. Samsclub did prorate them, but my family member bought into another set of Michelins, just going with the trendsetters. Yokohamas are really the best bang for the buck, but I went cheap myself and got the Walmart BF Goodyear Assurance.

We took advantage of this deal for the free installation and extended services with an online purchase. Joined Sams to do so. Tires came in today and we called for an appointment at the Latham NY location. The first available appointment was January 20 ... over 2 months away! We were told that we could show up at the club at 9:30AM and wait in line for service. At this point we'll try this once next week and maybe the following week before we cancel the order.
We live over 50 miles away and would not have purchased from Sams had we known their inability to provide installation in a reasonable time. We really don't want to muster up at 9:30am, possibly several times, only to be turned away. This also impacts their hazard warrantee, free tire rotations and rebalancing That were positive selling points in our consideration but now appear worthless.
Warning. Call your Sams club to determine the wait time for installation before you BUY.

Yea stopped by my store earlier today as I noticed tires were delivered, and was told 12/2 was next available date for install.

Just got my Michelin 4S's installed yesterday. The experience was pretty good with one exception:

I saw a set of identically-sized Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons sitting there which many people mistake for the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires. I specifically came back and asked the installer and made sure those were not the ones for me. Told them many people make that mistake. Lo and behold, 2 hours later, that set was on my car. I told them they put the wrong ones on and they immediately took them off and put on the right ones, which took another 45 min.

But they fixed the mistake so I give them kudos and even tipped them.

All in all, I saved at least $150 on the set and am pretty happy with the experience. In and out in 2 hrs (not counting the error).
