For those who are on the fence (and those who can get it) should get it!

I just picked one.

Latest tests:

Just using the HDMI output I was able to get 120Hz out from this laptop, while the BestBuy only does 60Hz.

This laptop has HDMI 2, whereas BestBuy only has HDMI 1.4

This is my opinion is also a big plus in Target laptop's favor :-)

Both USB type A connections are FAST type, whereas for BestBuy one is FAST, the other is slow.

It's a great laptop. Relatively decent specs, 8gb RAM, backlit KB (3 levels) 15 inch screen (decent size for many users), well lit, numpad keys, fingerprint reader, relatively light weight, to name a few.

I researched a lot … looked at options from Costco, WM, BestBuy, bought those and returned those, but this, in my opinion is the 'best'.

It gets charged pretty fast - from 5% charge to 85% in around 40-45mins

No running fan speed.

Fast WiFi (this is a big surprise for me) - I got approx 450mbps download speed on a 1 Gbps ATT fiber. For comparison I compared it with the i5 BestBuy Lenovo Laptop. The Lenovo gave me only 300-325mbps speeds.

Connected directly using LAN adaptor and got 922.39 Download and 899.58 Upload speeds from both USB slots, whereas BestBuy gave FAST internet speed ONLY in one USB slot :-)

Compared this and BestBuy laptops:

For this laptop:

CPUScore : 8.9
D3DScore : 9.9
DiskScore : 8.2
GraphicsScore : 8
MemoryScore : 8.9
TimeTaken : MostRecentAssessment
WinSATAssessmentState : 1
WinSPRLevel : 8
PSComputerName :

For BestBuy Lenovo laptop:

CPUScore : 9
D3DScore : 9.9
DiskScore : 9.05
GraphicsScore : 8
MemoryScore : 9
TimeTaken : MostRecentAssessment
WinSATAssessmentState : 1
WinSPRLevel : 8
PSComputerName :

The BestBuy laptop is a bit higher only on DiskScore but then the former is waay more expensive as well!

Also I was not able to install WSL/Ubuntu on BestBuy but on Target, installation of WSL/Ubuntu was a charm :-)

Next I will try to install Win 11 and PopOs (Linux). Will update.

Would highly recommend this. I am happy to recommend this - out of my research and experience.
Actually, this really is more rare than some might assume. In short, and as reviewed in a prior thread for an HP with the dual-core i3-1115G4, this particular 11th generation i3-1125G4 is a real sleeper performance CPU and is really an i5 in all but name. This first occurred for Intel in the 8th generation i3, though with less widespread usage.

This quad core CPU i-series CPU (vs. an Atom-based quad core like those you see in Chromebooks) should ensure that this system remains relevant and provides good performance for value for years to come. Typically the right price for this kind of PC would be in the $400-500 space, so the price here represents a good value. In fact, one of the jokes in the thread above was how many users might disregard a PC with this CPU as "just another i3, move on!"

Good luck!
Jon
Funny, this CPU is faster than my desktop i7-4790k which was top end several years ago... technology keeps marching on...

Not intended as a ding, but more of a qualification, one of the drivers for this laptop's charging speed is going to be the average to small battery size of 41 Wh. Of course, this is a very efficient system that doesn't make huge battery demands, but sometimes these larger form factors have included batteries intended for some of the more demanding CPU options (such as 56Wh or higher options).

This is a fine battery size for this laptop, just nothing to brag about.

Good luck!

To be fair, there are other considerations. Is your Dell a new 11th generation CPU? Is your Dell perhaps also an enterprise PC vs a consumer/retail model? Manufacturers are definitely cutting corners when they can, thankfully battery life is one where some of the impacts have been reduced by improvements elsewhere. Something worth bringing up because battery size is definitely one of the hidden areas where cost-cutting occurs.

Good luck!
Jon

Would you be able to include some pictures of the screen? Smilie
How is the fan noise? I had to return two different HP's because of the awful fan noises.
Thanks.
I already packed it for the relative. I couldn't tell you if the fan is noisy, I didn't use it long enough. I could live with the screen at this price. My bigger issue would be the silver keyboard.

Still coming up as $339.99 for me. The print ad is valid for the whole week, so they have to honor that price for the full time, though they note that quantities are limited and no rain checks, so if it goes out of stock the price will no longer be honored.

I picked up mine yesterday. It's not a bad laptop at all at $350. Screen is also pretty decent though it does seem a bit washed out at certain angles, but definitely can live with it. YouTube videos looked good. Keys are bigger and better than what I expected. Backlit keyboard is a big bonus.

Has anyone installed windows 11 on it yet? Do we have to first turn S mode off before installing 11? Planning to do that today.

Target with Redcard discount [target.com]-$322.99 + tax
Costco (w/shipping) [costco.com]-$359.96 + tax
Best Buy [bestbuy.com]-$329.99 + tax

Is the processor on the BB one better?

Assuming size doesn't matter, is it worth the extra money to get the Costco one for the extra year of warranty?

The one from Costco has a 14" display and the same 4-core i3-1125G4 CPU
The one from BB has the slower 2-core i3-1115G4 CPU and no backlit keyboard
