I think this will be their BF price for this particular model. I was holding off until now, but could not resist anymore. Thanks OP!

Pair that with this deal and you're golden.

FWIW I did this type of deal a few weeks ago. The associates said the HDD Recycling is under a different section in their system IIRC it was under "trade in" instead of "e-waste recycling" the associate told me he doubted the coupon would stack but when we got back to the register, boom, it just worked no special approval nothing. 15% off the sales price.

How's $170 for 14TB ? Got get your free Microcenter thumbdrive and flip it for 14TB for sub $13/TB
Can you elaborate how the recycle program works?

You bring an old storage drive to bestbuy tell them you want to do the 15% off coupon for trade in. You get a coupon to use on wd or SanDisk storage.. boom 🤯

That's a pretty good find.

I paid for it online. Do you think you can still do it after purchasing? I was planning to pick them up curbside. Also, is it like for like? Does it have to be an external? I have tons of old internal hard drives laying around I could use.

I used an internal, the SD thread has people giving them thumb drives. The deal has no restrictions or limitations it appears.. total screw up by BB corp

If you shuck the drive and it goes bad down the road, could you put it back in the enclosure and return it? Or will they not accept it? I'm new to this.
Just save the enclosure and put it back together if you need to RMA it.

Yep, RMA worked great for the 14TB I bought the last BF. Put it back in the case, just MAKE SURE that you know what drive goes in what case. Check and keep track of serials.

I've got a 920+, and it currently has two 14tb drives. By adding two more, what am I actually getting? More storage space or simply more backup redundancy?
Both are possible. Use the Synology RAID Calculator (https://www.synology.com/en-us/su...alculator) to simulate your configuration and determine the best arrangement of drives. Bear in mind that SHR (Synology's proprietary RAID solution) won't allow you to adopt larger drives into an existing volume, so be sure to only add equivalent or smaller drives if you want to use the full capacity.

Edit: it's been pointed out that I might have this backwards, so trust the documentation and not me: https://kb.synology.com/en-my/DSM...d_RAID_SHR

Can this work with the PS5?
Nope. USB Extended Storage on PS4 and PS5 works with hard drives up to 8TB capacity.

Best way to get 1 drive is to get 15% credit for recycled storage and pay for the drive using a BB gift card purchased with the 10% off virtual Visa from last week or Chase 10% offer.

Should be $153.
