Hey could you explain this to me? Not tech savvy.
Instead of using the official youtube app which has ads, you sideload aka install the SmartTubeNext apk file via USB or one of those online installers. That app blocks all youtube ads and has sponserblock (you know those ad segments in a youtube video). You can use that SmartTubeNext instead of the official youtube app (I personally uninstall the youtube app or have it disabled).

Meh.

"TiVo's biggest problem is that it has a twin: The new Chromecast with Google TV. They are essentially the same device. TiVo does come with its own Stream app, which aggregates content from multiple channels. However, the interface didn't wow me with helpfulness and TiVo's personalization is definitely a bug, not a feature. "

$15 vs 50. Better remote on tivo as well. And you don't have to use tivo stream app. It's stock Android TV everything else.

I have a CCwGtv, and the problem with that, is it has almost NO user available memory. Only a tad over 4Gb, and it gets used up very quickly and then it barely works. I only have about 9 apps loaded, and it's run out. So I have to remove/reload, and that SUCKS.

I do NOT recommend the Chromecast w Google tv device. My 4k Firestick runs rings around it without even breathing hard.

My 2018 Firestick 4K was rebooting out of the blue, requiring a power cycle every couple of days.

I've installed Wolf Launcher on it and it is now working fine – and cache files have been reduced dramatically. All that Amazon advertising crap was obviously the culprit.

Tivo: "We've had a successful product for 20 years and have been lauded on the excellent remote control."

Also Tivo: "Lets put out an android streamer, we won't let it work with our existing tivo dvrs, and how about we move all of the remote buttons around so long time users won't be familiar with it".

Considering it's on clearance, I think we know how well that worked out. I would have bought one once they dipped under $40, but I'm used to the original tivo remote layout.

Odd, I have two of those, and two tv's that run android tv. None have more than 4gb of ram.

I have a dozen streaming apps on it, and have had quite a bit more. Never had a problem running out of memory.

The walmart Onn I just bought has Netflix, hulu, disney+, hbo max, peacock, youtube tv, paramount plus a a few others. They take up less than .8GB, leaving 4GB free.

Not for game emulators or to store a large media library on, but an OTG cable and fast flash drive fixes that problem.

I wonder what the difference is between yours and mine then? I've been reading around about all sorts of other people running out of memory on theirs also...

By the way, if anyone is thinking of using this remote as a replacement for a Shield TV remote replacement, think again ...

The remote pairs just fine but as soon as you turn off the Shield TV, you have to re-pair the remote. It's a bit annoying...

I never had this issue when I use a Fire TV stick remote...
I can verify that as well, but the Onn remote works fine with shield.

I have 3 of these, they work great. My only grip is that it always forces bt audio to 100 and resets after each pause or episode change, the $20 onn can do this.

Yes it does, you can pair a sound bar or headphones just fine, but the audio will reset to 100% every time you do something, like pause or start a video. I emailed the company and requested the feature.
