Citi Custom Cash 5% credit card: new, better offer to earn $300 after $1000 spend available online

For those unaware, the Citi Custom Cash is a relatively new card that gives 5% back on up to $500 of spending each billing cycle in the category you spend in most (e.g. groceries, dining, gas). No having to figure out what the current quarter's bonus category is to get 5% back.
Previously the only offer available online for this card was $200 on $750 of spending in the first 3 months. You can browse that thread for more info and comments about the card. (There was a $300 offer available in Citi branches, but those are only found in major US cities.)
To find this offer, simply log in to Credit Karma and browse suggested credit card offers and you should see it. Alternatively, you can find a direct link on this reddit thread. I'm not posting the direct link itself as I'm assuming SD will mangle the URL.

So if I were to use this card only for my Verizon gift card purchase at the store each month for $500, I would get 5% CB each month?
I do this because this allows me to keep my Verizon autopay discount and use my current 5% Amex on cellular purchases.
However, Verizon has started to code those instore gift card purchases differently so my Amex is no longer giving me 5% CB on them
I didn't even know you can set up Verizon autopay with Verizon gift cards. This would let me double dip and get the Verizon auto pay discount monthly and also let me get reward back from my credit card.
Quick question, when you purchase the gift card monthly for your bill, do you need to set up your auto pay again? I assume every gift card has its own card number, expiration date, etc. Or are you just refilling / adding more money to an old gift card monthly?

Thanks in advance for the help!
i still have my debit card as my auto pay to get the $10 discount.
However, i would go into a store and buy a GC using my Amex card with 5% CB on cellular service, which i would then use to pay off my verizon bill before my autopay date.
Recently however, verizon changed the instore GC transaction from being labeled as cellular and instead as supply purchase so my Amex is no longer considering it a cellular bill and i lost the 5%
Really? I thought the odd comment was he knew exactly how his mom uses her credit card and when she switches for what purchases. Typically, you would have to live with someone and go with them to buy groceries and gas to know that. If you live with your mom, isn't the first question does she buy your groceries for you?
Why does it matter to you who buys the groceries? Rather why do you care who lives with who?

Just got this card, should be coming in the mail tomorrow….but believe I was only offered $200 about a week ago. Wondering if I can request the new promo $ amount.
I use Paypal Key with my Verizon to link my credit card. Can you like Amex with Paypal Key?

Question about your Verizon paying method. Are you receiving the Verizon autopay discount monthly when you're using a paypal key?
My understanding was that paypal key provides you with a card number that gets coded as a credit card. So when signing up for autopay on Verizon, you wouldn't get the monthly discount since the system thinks you're using a credit card.
Please advise and correct me if I'm wrong. Just looking for different methods to pay so I can double dip the discount from Verizon autopay and from my credit card.
Too bad if it can't accept Walmart and Target for 5% cash back.
For Target just get the debit card version of the Red card. 5% back at Target and no credit inquiry needed. They regular have a promo for a $40 off coupon at Target when you sign up.
If spending 500$ (groceries only), annually 6000$, 300$ cashback with this. But only 1% for rest.
But BCP will give 360$ cashback + 3% petrol + 6% streaming/other amex premium benefits like warranty/travel benefits, so still a better card than this even after 95$ fee, isn't it?
The Blue Cash Preferred is only better if you're the type that only wants one card, a convenience you'll pay for, and kind of stupid since it's a good idea to have at least a couple cards in case one gets lost or stolen. Also, having any Amex as your only card would be stupid since there are still places that don't accept it, especially outside the US. Which brings up the fact that the BCP charges a foreign transaction fee so it's not a good card for travel.
In short, you're better off with multiple cards, the Custom Cash is a good one, and the BCP can be beat by having other cards in addition (US Bank has a card that gets 5% on streaming with no annual fee).
Regardless of what Approval Odds you are given, it is the credit card issuer that has to actually approve you. Pre-approval on Creditkarma does not mean you are pre-approved from the card issuer.
It worked for me. I had been rejected for the card two months ago and got approved yesterday after getting a very positive recommendation from Creditkarma. It's the real deal. They do have a tie-in to Citi's evaluation system. Previously they had said not to apply.

I have a Verizon visa card, which is qualified for the discount, and has 2% cash back in the form of Verizon dollars.

If I spend 251 at supermarket
And 249 at restaurant.
I can get 5% for $251 I spent on supermarket. And 1% on $249 that I spent at restaurant. Right?
Since Grocery is my highest category.
