The previous thread was a month old and had weird links. https://slickdeals.net/f/15394060-maybe-ymmv-ridgid-16-gal-5-0-peak-hp-nxt-wet-dry-shop-vacuum-with-2-filters-2-pack-dust-bags-hose-diffuser-and-3-accessories-hd1640a-49-99?v=1&src=SiteSearch Even though it's the same model, internet and SKU numbers, for some reason that Old HD link doesn't show as being available in store.

OP, you might want to put "Ridgid ' in the title. It'll probably get you more hits by triggering more Deal Alerts.
I don't see another post. There was a precious one that was in store only very ymmv.

Edit: previous not precious. Not looking for a ring...
This is the best shop vac I've ever owned and this is an amazing price. If you don't have one already you should jump on this deal.

I'm sorry but I have to laugh. People complaining about the noise. I have been doing construction for 20 years and I realize it's a tool to cleanup after a job is done. What are these people complaining doing? Using the Shop-Vac at 2 in the morning when the kids are sleeping? Do you complain about your circular saw being loud? I am laughing so hard typing this about how ridiculous people can be. It's a tool people!! Is your vacuum quiet? This is the world we live in now. Really a Shop-Vac is a Shop-Vac. Been the same for as long as I can remember. The question is how cheap can you get it. This meets that need.
I was thinking the same thing. I bought this thing 2 weeks ago and it's been sitting in the box. I finally unboxed and assembled it yesterday. Fired it up and it sounds fine to me as well. I think I have pretty good hearing. Are these people comparing this to a regular hoover house vacuum?? I also have an old Rigid 16gal from 15 years ago, Craftsman 2gal wet vac, and Ryobi 18v cordless 6gal and 3gal wet vacs. Yes, my wife just asked me why I have so many vacs LOL!

This vacuum is beyond huge prob the biggest cabin sold ever in history Obnoxious is an understatement. I ended up returning it as it took up half my garage and could not park my car even with this massive piece of plastic there is no reason to have one this big!
It's designed for a car wash commercial vac or something as much as I wanted to keep it I could not handle the size. Massive so huge it's Absurd

It's way louder than my old 12 gallon Ridgid and the Costco DeWaltโ€ฆ I sold the Ridgid a few years ago but I got to run the Dewalt and this one side by side, the difference is quite significant.

Some of us don't want damaged hearing, but if you're used to working in a construction environment I understand that might be different
Yeah, it was definitely louder than I was expecting. I returned mine and got this one instead: https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGI.../304006023

I don't know what's different between the two because in theory the motor is the same, but the 12 gallon one definitely sounds much quieter than the 16gal Black Friday deal. Unfortunate, because the BF shop vac was a great deal.

Honestly the $75 is probably worth it, you get two more attachments that are like $10 each alone. I wasn't sure if it was going to be quieter so I went with the Dewalt. Thanks for confirming I'm not crazy thinking my old Ridgid was much quieter ๐Ÿ˜‚

My guess is that the motors are the same, but the cheapest $50 BF model had some of the sound deadening parts removed to cut costs

Nope, it's not you. I looked for the DeWalt at my local Costco but couldn't find it otherwise I probably would have jumped on it. Though maybe I'm happy with saving the extra $15 since the Ridgid 12gal I linked earlier seems to work great. Should be a workhorse for me for many years.

Several home depots near me had this one on clearance for 90$ https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGI.../308343494. I went and got this one as it's tiny bit smaller and has 1 more HP.

I was debating between 16gal vs 4gal. Ended up buying both. The large one will pretty much have a full time home in the garage. Smaller one for in a pinch needs around the house/basement.
I also bought both plus the box of attachments and hose. All three ended up costing me $112 with veterans discount. The big one I will keep in my basement and the smaller one in the garage to clean my car..

I've heard that some people (like you) were able to find that deal. Did it come with the car cleaning kit ($25 value) for you as well bundled in store? If I could find that I would hop on this one instead of the 12 gallon one.

That's what I went with even though I was able to get the BF 16gal one in this thread. The 12gal shop vac you linked is significantly quieter (see earlier comments) and in my opinion a better vac than the 16gal BF deal.

Yesterday I cancelled my 16gal order and ordered 12gal with extra 20' hose for $88 + tax.
