I am professional audio and video specialist. Weather conditions will effect your tv,regardless covered or not. Get ready for lot's of service calls. I suggest you to build case just let screen exposed. You will have better chance hopefully. Good luck.

Bought this for my office, for late-night TV viewing without waking up the kids. I ran the vegetable video, and mine has very minimal blooming. I compared it with my other two (much more expensive) TVs, and I don't see any differences in blooming worth mentioning. Certainly, nothing like the other guy's posted photos. I did tweak a few settings on the U6GR5: turned the brightness to normal, changed to color balance a bit to get rid of a bit of the green, and changed the contrast a little. The colors are good and the blacks too. I'm pretty happy with it. I have a fancy color calibrator that I use on all my TVs and monitors to make sure they look as good as possible. I haven't run it on this TV yet, but I'm not sure I even need to, since it looks good enough as-is.

I just picked one up on Monday, the 90 day return policy made me feel more comfortable doing so. After having the TV a couple days, I don't have any desire to return it. Picture quality (from my very unprofessional opinion) is beautiful and colors seem punchy but realistic after some calibration. I have some hesitation around the brand and was hoping for 120hz, but this tv checked all the other boxes at a great price and so far so good.

The only U6G TV that is even available for staring at around me was the 75" one at Best Buy. It looked pretty good, but then, it just kept showing this 4K loop of female models doing artsy poses. I wish just once they would show an actual live football game or any kind of live sports because that is all I really watch on TV.

I only recently discovered that rting said the U6GR is a completely different TV than the U6G and the review for the U6G does not apply: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/u6g

Hisense has released a variant of this TV, known as the Hisense U6GR or Hisense U6GR5. It's a completely different TV, with more advanced gaming features, including variable refresh rate support. It also runs the Roku smart interface instead of Android TV. We don't expect our results here to be valid for the U6GR.
Yeah I'm going with the one that was tested on rtings in the U6G 65" Android TV. Early reports on the Costco one is that it has a washed out image... at least OOTB. 5 series also isn't great OOTB and I don't want to do a ton of tweaking for a secondary set like this. Just looking for something that looks pretty good, sounds decent and works as intended.

anyone else notice that the U6GR on display at costco does not look as good with color and brightness compared to the (lower spec on paper) LG UP7670?

I know the U6GR has the specs of a $750 samsung at $450, but when I compare low end models from samsung and lg to the hisense, the hisense looks like the cheaper panel. the reviews say I would be wrong, but my eyes tell me that the u6g is not that impressive. the u8g however looks as good as everyone says, but the motion handling i have personally seen to be poor.

I really wanted to jump on the hisense bandwagon as price to features is unbeatable, but personally the more I look at other low end TVs from samsung and lg, the more I think alot of the lower end models of hisense stuff is hyped.

if you've stared at a U6GR at costco for 5 minutes or more LOL, please share your thoughts compared to other low-mid end name brand TVs.
I wasn't impressed in store, but they don't have the same setting going with both TVs. At least in my store looks like they had max brightness and contrast all the way up on the Samsung and LGs and looked like they had some video with Dolby vision on the Hisense. Once you have it in your home In a darker setting its amazing the blacks are awesome. If washed out blacks don't bug you go for the Samsung and LG, but for me the local dimming,VRR is worth it.

I bought one before the price drop and really like it so far. Great picture, Roku is fast (but not as fast as a dedicated box). Some ARC/eARC weirdness with a sound bar(not turning on/muting/randomly changing volume) so hopefully that goes away.

If we want to go OLED, is this one the way to go?

A little off topic, but yes. The LG C1 is arguably the most well rounded OLED of 2021 for a semi-reasonable price.

Having spent more time with the tv. I am having really bad ghosting problems on tv shows and especially in video games with game mode on. Halo infinite is a smeary mess.

Store mode can be tricky and might be pushing some TV's to the limit. But not sure.

do you have these problems when game mode is off? not that you should have these problems in any mode, but curious.

Just picked up the tv and have never used Roku before. Is it normal to have to press the power button on the remote a bunch of times before the tv turns on? Once the tv is on remote works fine and will turn off and on the tv instantly. If I wait an hour the same behavior occurs having to press the power button multiple times before the tv turns on and this is with the controller 5 inches away from the ir receiver. Does it use Bluetooth to connect to the tv once it connects I can block the ir sensor and it still works. Wondering if the remote or tv is borked. TIA
I have this power on issue and the AirPlay doesn't work too. Overall the TV is awesome other than these issues.

Anyone using this as a monitor? Some say these give problems using as a monitor all day long.

This or Hisense R8F 55" from Costco for $299? The specs are almost similar except VRR and HDMI 2.1.

The R8F has bad motion problems. Even though its still on the Costco site I don't think it is actually available.

Yeah it's also present streaming through Apple TV out of game mode. my wife complained about it's gotta be bad. Maybe I lost the panel lottery returning mine this weekend.

Depends on your space and planned usage. That is a good price for the TCL. I would personally never go less than a 55" unless the space didn't allow for it. The Samsung 700D posted earlier in this thread would also be a great option right in the middle in terms of price.
Thanks for your reply. The size difference between the two TVs is not a big problem, since it's in a relatively small guest room, and the TV would get occasional use.

The colors on the TCL looked pretty washed out with no adjustments. I'm not expecting the same picture quality as our LG C1 OLED or the Samsung QLED, but compared to the Hisense R6 that I bought from Costco last year (currently in the basement/gym), it just looks underwhelming.

It's been going in and out of stock; I managed to snag one but also picked up the U6GR5 because of the well-known motion problems.
