The display is among the best out there and will probably be hard to beat at this price point. But from reviews, that high resolution can cause the battery life to tank to 8 hours. Not a big deal for me as I'm almost always near an outlet and in the few times I'm not, I generally need no more than 4 hours to get some work done.
The one thing you're losing vs getting a Thinkpad is that classic Thinkpad keyboard. This laptop's keyboard is pretty alright if not above average. But it's not going to have the key travel of say a T14 or a Carbon.
EDIT: Don't forget the 2-year warranty is standard. Buy it using the Costco Visa card and it gets a whopping total of 4 years of warranty support.

For fun I liquid metal'd my Slim 7i Pro and it dropped about 12c across the board on temps.. It now can sustain a 4.3ghz all-core turbo boost indefinitely while staying around 83c..
Only thing that's mildly disappointing vs the SP8 for is the speakers.. SP8 speakers are insanely good with actual depth/bass.. The Slim 7i Pro speakers are passable, but generally trash. But hey, there's 1k+ price difference between these units.

By liquid metal, did you apply a specific cooling paste? I might have to check that out...

2+2 year with Visa card. It basically extends manufacture warranty with the help of Costco concierge services. Allstate warranty is 3 years of accidental protection for 99$. Standard warranty does not include accidents, spills, or even if the hinge breaks within the same year.
Therefore if you bought it with Visa card, you have 4 years of manufacture warranty. If you choose to also buy Allstate, you will have accidental protection within 3 of those years.
