I picked this up as well, hell of a deal for a laptop like this. Screen nits at 400 is also nice, this is a hot topic frequently complained about on SD forums around laptops this year. If you use the email sign up discount code, the code above, and the ID.me discount, it drops the price to $1063 pretax. Fantastic deal IMO, been watching everything lately and I think this is the sweet spot for the price and what it is coming with. Dont forget about the extended return policy!

May not be a deal breaker for some, but was for me unfortunately. Regardless, great find OP!

Also to help others make an informed decision, the 3060 looks to be 75 watts, which is perfectly fine for this price point and a non-gaming machine, but you're looking at around a 15% performance reduction compared to a higher (95, 120, or 130) watt 3060...likely more at this resolution. Temper your expectations accordingly (advice I need to follow more often than not).

Edit: just saw gyraxis had already mentioned the wattage in the thread, cheers my dude.
This one has a 75W RTX 3060 btw for those interested in picking it up for gaming.

To answer your question, the cooling the of the 16P is the same as the Legion 7 Slim so it will have better CPU thermals then the Thinkbook 15, its a full H series chip as well.

The screen is the biggest difference you go from a 400 nit QHD 16:10 100% SRGB screen and good adobe RGB % to a 300 nit crappy 45% NTSC / 62% SRGB with bad contrast, light bleed and etc.
Thanks for taking time for such a detailed reply. I agree with what you are using. Makes sense

Well, NOBODY "needs" this, but a good reason to buy is not solely for gaming or high-power-demanding uses. If you want a moderately powerful laptop that will continue to be an enjoyable experience while using for the next 5+ years, this is a much better option than something cheaper or with no dedicated GPU. Get something with an APU, and in 3 years I bet youll be dying for a replacement. The fairly high end display will also be appreciated in a few years. If you can afford to stretch for this (or anything comparable) over something a few hundred bucks cheaper but far inferior, it will be worth it in the long run. Think of it like buying a used car. Yea, you CAN get a $500 beater that will be miserable the entire time you own it and might last a few years, but if you could afford to stretch that to $1000 or $1500, you can easily get a car that will outlive you and not be a terrible experience.

(there is no need for pedants to come in and argue the pricing in my analogy... Where I live that analogy matches real-life perfectly, and its just an analogy anyways, doesnt need to fit every used car market on the planet)

I really like the higher res on this one 2560x1600 vs FHD on yours. But I specifically wanted higher resolution so nothing wrong with FHD! Smilie

When I logged in with ID.me nothing seemed to happen, also my email discount code only gave me $60 off instead and since I got an accidental damage warranty that put it over $1500 I lost my $100 off for going over 1500 haha. I guess the latter half is just my fault, but how do get id me to work? Didn't seem to change the price at all for me.

Anyone have any thoughts on this for video editing? I need to edit multiple 4K files layered on each other and can't find too much data in the 3060 max q specifically for that. Used to get by decently on a 2070 laptop that broke.

Interesting, thanks! What about ThinkPads, more expensive?
Thinkpads in this price range have a pretty poor port selection and much dimmer screens.

Tough to hold back on. Really wish it was a 5800h. Anyone know the return policy of Lenovo.com offhand?

Just picked up an open box Ideapad pro 5 from microcenter for 850ish but it's having a lot of wifi issues.
Lenovo had the 5800h for $50 more but they're out of stock.

Wanted to pick this up, but my alert didn't fire. I'll continue watching as this is a good deal for this price if it comes back.
