Entirely different model I know but I have (and am still quite happy with over 3 years later) the older model 55R617 series 6 TV ... a few words of caution though

- the first time I bought this TV it arrived with a broken screen from amazon ... but it wasn't immediately obvious to me that the screen was broken (hairline fracture almost too small and thin to see) ... wasted time on the phone with TCL's customer service for a while before finally figuring out what happened. Do NOT throw away the box , packaging, anything that goes with the TV... as a matter of fact hang onto it for at least 30 days or 90 days or however long the return period is for. This came in handy for me when the Costco version of this TV also had issues (see below)

- even with this model the OP posted (thanks for that OP Smilie ) I see remarks on the "panel lottery" on amazon's reviews.. this was the case with my TCL model of TV too, quality control is hit or miss.. it's a great value for the price when you get one that works, to this day I'm still super pleased with the picture quality.. but a few months after we purchased the Costco version of this TV (exact same TV they just change the model number slightly to show it's sold by Costco) for a different room in the house we noticed a problem with the picture on the TV.. rather mild and only visible at the "start" roku screen but my online research indicated this was bad news and often led to future problems with picture quality when watching shows or what not on the TV... fortunately it fell within Costco's 90 day return period and Costco replaced it, nearly two years later the replacement TV still works great... but there absolutely is a "lottery" going on, you might get a TV that works properly or you might not.

Personally I think it's worth gambling on but do be aware of what you're getting yourself into and hang onto any and all packaging for the TV for as long as the return period is valid.

This is the cheapest I have seen this model. The previous low I saw was $999 and was on Blcak Friday Price Match Guarantee. So I am surprised to see its $900 now.

The firmware and software on this series is absolute garbage. Casting from a phone is delayed and rarely works. VUDU doesn't work at all. Apps randomly crash and require a power cycle. Won't wake when attempting to cast from a phone. Can't connect sony Bluetooth headphones. The only Bluetooth headphones I can get to connect have a 1/2 second delay behind video. It's not just my set. Read the reviews

forgot to mention... amazon (of course) replaced the TV with the hairline crack with one that to this day is working fine but that's why you need to hang onto the box, packaging, everything that comes with the TV .. otherwise no matter where you buy it from it could be an issue trying to get that TV returned.

If you don't mind getting last year's model
Nowadays with TVs that's not such a bad thing...
Not the case with TCL but Sony & Samsung have systematically reduced the quality of their TVs.
eg... 2017~2018 was the pinnacle for Sony TVs. All the proceeding models have been diminished in quality.

The price is great for the picture quality, but now that I have had this TV for a month, I have to return it and get something with less buggy software. Right now I'm eyeing the Sony X95J even it's more expensive. Roku on TCL is just so much better.

I This thing is heavy at 65 lbs. .
That used to be the norm for 65" TVs before they became all plastic, flimsy and with weird plastic feet.

AND don't get me started with the LCD TVS circa 2005. Those things were beautiful and "VERY" heavy. They looked and felt like a thick pane of glass encased in metal.

Glad to see another price drop in this model. Whenever I think I'm leaning towards the U8G, the R646 drops in price.

For a $80 less than the low for the U8G I'm looking at this TV again. Now to see if the U8G drops to $900 to match this.

Yeah definitely better than the U6G in pretty much every way, except price. This is comparable to the U8G.
