If I'm planning to use this on Cricket, and be there for longer than 6 months, is there any reason to get this over the one direct from cricket for $89.99? (Plus $25 activation unless I can get them to take it off for the compatibility upgrade.). Exact same phone? Can't see model number but specs seem the same.

It's the same phone on Cricket, 2021 Moto G Power 4GB/64GB. Buy it there if you're ok with a paying for Cricket service for the 6 months it takes to unlock it (or you have no plans to leave Cricket service).

I decided on going through Samsung and got a renewed S20FE + buds for $350 +tax + super old device trade in. Ironically you could trade in the S20FE for $400 credit at some places.

For $199 and far better specs, it's worth the wait for me.
