I mean I have a real grille outside that I would use preferably, easier, taste good, no clean up. but this is great if weathers bad or cold outside. its a really good machine with impressive results.
but its surprisingly good. I make brats on the ninja foodi, they turn out even juicier than the grille (due to fact that im not over cooking them) toss onions and green pepper slices in with it, seriously sautéed them together. it does lack a little grill flavor.
we cook chicken from frozen now, we buy costco frozen chicken breast, takes 14 minutes. from frozen to cooked. it isnt chef level, but they are damn good and juicy if you dont over cook them. air frying in this bad boy is top notch though. we air fry half our meals, and its excellent, you dont have to use the air fry basket, we actually leave the grille basket in most the time.
cleaning is real easy, if you do get the grille real gross and burnt, just pull the inside bowl and the insert out, fill with water soap, leave for an hour and use the brush, it all falls off. no effort. I do not recommend just tossing the grill insert or air fry into dish washer, (we use dish washer) but we manually wash it 99% because, the little grilled food particles was leaving little specs on other dishwater if theres a ton of burnt stuff on it.
so just soaking, use that brush is good enough really, but when theres empty spots in washer I just toss them in for extra clean. the little grease trap, toss it in the washer as well periodically.
do not use canola oil, use olive or avocado oil, you will get smoke. but not with the higher temp oils.
big edit
I got al of ours from costco, its an upgraded model, with thermprobe (never use it) but it has a nicer display and diff cook settings, and lifetime warranty from costco guarantee. it goes on sale for 144 too. I think even 125. id recommend trying to get it from there for the upgrade face alone
Costco has it for 149. its upgraded model, and lifetime guarantee. just put the little grille probe in a drawer, I dont use it. but the face / buttons are so much nicer than regular model imo. worth it
