There's comments like this in every MacBook Air M1 thread, but have no clue what they're talking about. Look into how this thing actually performs instead of thinking it's the same as the Intel chipsets with 8gb of ram.

A year old laptop that is going to run circles around any other comparably priced laptop.

Costco has two years warranty, so that's a plus

Weird question - I know it says in store only, but I'm curious if this works with instacart, since the shopper has to get the product in person (and it doesn't require a costco membership).

Additionally, I wonder if the 2 year warranty sticks too if this works.

Anyone have any idea on this? Thanks

Sorry, I was trying to say on sale. I have not seen 16gb configs on sale here for mac air or Mac Pro 13 for example
IIRC, I bought a 16/256 from microcenter for $999 a few months back. If you gotta have 16gb, keep an eye on them.

Works with instacart - yes , but all instacart items are marked up. So you'll have to check what mark up they decide on

warranty - tricky. I've failed at returning items in store bought on sameday.costco.com (the member only instacart page). Purchases are not connected to your account # or credit card #.

Would suggest waiting for M2 MBA (tho probably you'd have to bear with a notch) or get a used Mac Mini

I have the Mac mini version. It outperforms the previous MacBook pros. Please don't comment on things you know nothing about.
...which is more than I can say for snobs like you spitting out logical fallacies when no one calls them out: the truth or the falsehood of the proposition does not depend on how many people believe it, nor on who it's coming from. You think that the same number or tabs in the same Chrome, Firefox, etc. each magically require half the ram than their Intel versions? Via Rosetta? And then the first native versions that they're having to race building from ground up? You think reports of excessive ssd wear might have something to do with the fact that whenever you don't have enough Ram, you must start swapping to the drive? I'm glad your computer *feels* fast thanks to their silicon, that's all fine and dandy but what happens two, four, six years down the road when all you've got is 8gb of soldered Ram?

Well there you go, makes the deal even better as the computer will retain better resale value if you choose to upgrade in the next 6 to 8 months.

Reports of excessive ssd wear? Old and fake news spoken so confidently. Apple haters are a weird, sad bunch.

https://appleinsider.com/articles...s-114-beta

Even if there was an issue with ram swap, it would take a super duper ultra mega power user half a decade to kill a modern ssd in a base mba, and a regular user about a decade. Maybe read up on studies done on ssd longevity. So it's a non-issue. A complete and utter non-issue. Maybe actually inform yourself on the topic at hand before going on a diatribe and calling people names. You do not know what you're talking about, and you have only added unnecessary confusion to a thread bc you just had to spread your weird anti-Apple propaganda.

So to clear things up for anyone wondering: there is, confirmed, no ram swap issue that will destroy your ssd, and M1 Macs are, confirmed, more efficient in how they perform, RAM use included, making 8gb more than enough and certainly not an even comparison vs some piece of garbage asus or whatever that can't run more than 4 tabs of chrome or two apps simultaneously without combusting.

I have both MBP intel 2019 and MBA M1 2020 in front of me right now. I'm massively impressed with M1 performance. And haven't heard the fan running so far. I thought MBP 2019 was very quiet, fan on only a handful of times.

Missing the Best Buy return window (30-day for Elite, but currently doing holiday extension to 01/22/2022 for 10/18/2021+ purchase.. I should've waited), I just put my MBP on CL/eBay. Hard to believe (greedy) Apple came down with the price on this great update.
For the first time ever with Apple laptops, they're offering a good value proposition for performance to price with these M1 MBA.

I'm by no means an Apple enthusiast, but the M1 and M2 chips are clear game changers.

The first-gen M1 Air doesn't have fan, that's the biggest difference from tge first-gen M1 pro.

A developer here with m1 mba 8gb unified memory.
Those of you waiting for deals on 16gb models - Apple doesn't sell them in store, nor can you buy one in Best Buy or other store. 16gb IS A CUSTOM ORDER MBA. If stores like B&H would be selling them with discount, that would be their inventory of custom ordered MBAs.

To those, who doesn't understand unified memory - I had an XPS with I-9750 and 32Gb of ram before. MBA performance is more seamless.
I run a server, containerization system, 3 browsers with 100+ tabs, slack, zoom, Spotify, dozen other apps, and figma with 12Gb design files. I don't feel any slug (sometimes when I add double the tabs, it can happen, closing an unused browser stops the issue) but my swap is at 8-10 Gb. Ideally I would get 16gb but when I was ordering it after it came out, wait time was 45+ days.
This thing is a beast, compared to my xps 15 w/ i7.
