Pretty much all true HEPA systems will filter air equally as well. The main issue I have with this machine is it's carbon filter. It's an absolute joke of material and is more of a gimmick than a usable product. The amount of "carbon" media available to the device will in no way offer any type of decent usage compared to a device like a Winix 5500-2 which uses actual carbon filled filters to increase surface area to trap gases through adsorption.

Personally I would wait for the 5500-2 to go back on sale given that it's equally as powerful as the 200M but with far better carbon filtration.

You smoke and have an air purifier? Oh the irony…. Hahahaha I don't think I've heard something so funny for a long time. Thanks for making my day

If you need an air cleaner for a large room this is fantastic. We have one in the bedroom and one in our home office spaces.

We keep it on AUTO and it senses when there's dust in the air or if there are odors (cooking, smoke, cat dander, etc). When the air is super clean it stays on low (can't even hear it but you can feel the clean air dispersing from the top) and when it senses pollutants of any kind it'll go to medium or high automatically.

Funny, when I walk into the office it usually kicks into Medium. That's probably becuase I smoke (outside) but it senses my breath and cures the air immediately. Y'know when light comes in through the windows and exposes all the stuff (dust, etc.) in the air? Well, this air cleaner eliminates that stuff in just a few minutes. In fact, it's been proven that this unit replaces the air in an entire big room within an hour. So, given that we keep it on 24/7, that's 24 times a day that our rooms are air-cleaned! And no, it hardly uses any electricity, if that is a concern.

Very easy to change (and buy) the 2 filters and they last for about a year with just a little monthly maintenance, like vacuuming the front filter for a few seconds or brushing that filter outside for a minute. So simple.

The unit is well worth the price shown here right now but I got lucky a few months ago and got them for about $20 cheaper.

I've had this thing for a few years now (mines has the original cover plate, but they are basically the same). Loved it so much, I bought one for my brother when this version was on sale last year.

On thing that was a pleasant surprise was when it was really hot outside and I couldn't use the window fan for some cooling... this thing blows semi cool air. So I would tilt it in my direction at times lol. I live in the Bay Area Cali, so it's not like we're accustomed to needing window AC.

Winix 5500-2 is on sale in Amazon for $159.99, do you think its a good price?

Just bought this same model for $119 a few weeks ago. Think I'll wait for a better deal but the unit itself is great. Definitely want to get another.

Oh damn what truth!!
The only argument I can think of is that the person who smokes may be allergic to stuff like pollen, dust etc which an air filter like this can reduce dramatically.
