What are you planning on doing with it? My boot drive (960 EVO NVME) has been powered on for 12775 hours. That is 532 full 24 hour days of power on time. So far it has 29.8TB written. At this rate, 600 tbw would be 29 years of 24/7 operation. (although this 960 EVO 1TB version is rated at 400 TBW)

Not the 980 Pro, so no DRAM. But still a good deal.

Only 600 tbw :-(
Most of the Gen3 1TB have TBW in the range of 600-650.

On Gen 4 1TB I have seen some with TBW to be 1200-1300. Check Sabrent or MSI Gen 4 specs. Not sure how they have increased if they are using TLC.

How do you find this information out?

Samsung Magician program. (It pulls it from the S.M.A.R.T. data of the drive.)

Some heat sinks are gimmicks just to sell to people. What works best for the drive is the correct heat spreader. It moves the heat from the controller chip quickly, then uses that heat to maintain a good temp for the NAND flash memory chips. In simple terms, when they are warmed (to a certain point) it makes it easier for the electrons to be pushed into their storage buckets. Colder NAND takes more 'force' to do the same work and this extra electrical force wears them out quicker. So, keeping the NAND flash memory as coolest as possible is counter productive. Keeping the controller chip from overheating is essential to keep throttling down.

I'm 10% wear through a set of PRO's in 8 months. Just a few VM's for light software development.

Hardly extreme usage.

Its near the cheapest basic 1 TB NVMe you can buy. You get what you pay for? Its like asking if a civic will tow a yacht.

The SK Hynix P31 [amazon.com] is frequently on sale for just a little more than this and it's a much better drive which uses DRAM and is extremely power efficient (giving better battery life and putting out less heat).

It has the usual 15% off coupon right now actually. Bringing the price down to $110.

My question was addressed at the person that said, "Only 600 tbw :-("

Your usage situation is asking for enterprise performance from a consumer device so there is no reason to even address the 'lowness' of the TWB. Was this drive rated in DWPD we could talk.

I always associate Hynix with variable build quality. (for example, I would return a GPU with Hynix DRAM vs Samsung.) Nevertheless, that is mostly subjective, so here is a review that contains both (starting on page 2) and it might help one decide:
