Wouldn't this phone (listed as "Total Wireless Apple iPhone 12 Mini, 64GB, Black- Prepaid Smartphone [Locked to Carrier- Total Wireless]" on Walmart) be considered ineligible for trade-in when you bring it in to Best Buy?

It might be referring to the phone you buy rather than the phone you are trading in.
Also, the price varies by your state. In NY where the tax is for the amount you actually paid. In CA (and a few others), they tax you on the full value of the device so I hear it comes out to about $180.

This is why I prefer real unlocked phones over R-sim.
