Too late. Everyone bought from BH
Just a reminder for everyone to check: I had the Discover 30% off (max $30) on my amazon account - so, I just used 1 point and got $30 off. I also had the AMEX 15% off (max $15) on my account. So, might be good to check if either of those are active on the account Smilie.

NOTE: As a plus, Discover also has Amazon.com as part of its 5% Cash Back this quarter Applause

I finally finished setting up my DS920+ & moving all my files. I originally bought to store my media files for use with my Plex server on my Nvidia Shield, but I decided to try out the server on the 920... I am very impressed, my Nvidia Shield is now just a player since it can handle just about any file. I don't have any extremely large bitrate files, but what I do have, the 920 server handles flawlessly with almost instant video start. Loving this NAS!

Amazon sent my $550 Synology DS920+ with no shipping box, no packing materials, no seal from the manufacturer to show it hasnt been opened... Amazon just slapped a shipping label and sent it via USPS.

Just got my DS220+. I followed the instructions http://find.synology.com to have my PC via browser, try to locate my NAS on my network. It's plugged into a switch. My PC is on WIFI.

Spent 3 hours so far, cannot detect the NAS.

I also downloaded the SYnology Assistant, it also can't find it.

I've tried the official steps of resetting the NAS via the reset button in the back, hold it 4 sec until the beep.

In one instance it advises to connect a lan cable from PC into the NAS and re-run the scan. This still failed.

But doesn't the NAS lose an IP address since you've unplugged the lan cable so as to plug it into your PC?

Anyway, I noticed in my Router (asus) interface, it sees the NAS, has an IP.. I can PING the IP.

I decided to slap the IP onto my webbrowser and presto, it finds the darn NAS.....

I can proceed with running a setup, haven't done it yet.

Is something not resolving whereby I have to resort to using the IP address?
Sorry I don't remember what I did, I just remember trying to find it with synology assistant at first and wasn't able to find. However the website find.synology worked and after that the synology assist was able to find it after the installation.
