Bought this last year on BF - what a great saw! I recommend doing the laser light upgrade:

Just throwing this out there... bought this same deal last year for $379... and it made me leave Dewalt for good.

I had owned a DWS779 for many years, and it was an amazing SCMS. And last year when I seen the sale, I jumped on it.

Little did I know how much Dewalt had cheapened the saw from the 779 of the past. Many of the aspects that made it a "DWS780 Without the Light" were gone. So many things that made it great...

(Copy/paste to save time)
1. Saw now only cuts 13.75" wide not 16" as advertised (huge change)
2. Kerf plate is no longer split and cannot be adjusted
3. They removed a few bevel stops.
4. There is no more slide lock lever.
5. The motor itself bogs down quickly compared to the older versions. This is straining the motor, and in turn, shortening it's life span.

They took a once amazing saw that was the best value in SCMS, and turned it into a Yellow Craftsman Sliding Compound Miter Saw.

So be forewarned... this will be more of a DWS778.9. And it is not a very good deal at this price, for this saw.

Look into the Makita and Bosch. I love the Bosch now, and find it better than the DWS780. (I only with the Newer Cordless Bosch had the option of being battery powered, and corded. I'd have bought that one instead if it came with both options.)
This will get down voted but I have TWO of these as well as a comparable Metabo (I run a woodshop) and I would use the Metabo over my 779s every time. I have DeWalt everything in the shop but the 779s are underwhelming IMO.

Got one. Big thanks OP. Been waiting for $400 for awhile but the price has been no where close to that, giving this the best SD.

Watched the video seems like it gives the light. I was thinking adding laser cut line light.

The light casts a shadow of the blade onto the workpiece. I like this a lot better than a laser system because there's nothing to be out of alignment.

It may not work as well under full sunlight, but that's not a problem for me.

This shadow light system is on the top of the line 780's. That saw is currently $150 more and doesn't come with the free stand.

It gives a shadow line cut . I believe it's more accurate than the laser

Decisions Decisions.... I've been waiting for a stand deal, but this is not necessarily the best price. This was $399 with the stand about a month ago at Home Depot. But I missed the deal. Does anyone know if Home Depot will be offering this sale?

You are wrong. The deal with HD was not 779. I believe is 715. Ways different class. Not to get this is a wrong decision!

Agreed on the laser, I PM'd last year and got it for $325. Best SD I ever got.

OP, should add "sliding" somewhere in the title.

I got this for 299 from acme tools a couple years ago. Have used it for a number of projects, including trimming out my basement. I'm really happy with it, especially with an upgraded blade for trim work. Still need to add the light though.
