I almost went for this deal, but ultimately went with the Samsung 980 1TB m.2 at Dell.com for $99 free ship and a $10CB from a certain site.

The 980 is PCIe 3.0. Not 4.0.

The 980 is DRAMless so it's going to slow down a lot more, even if max speed is good.

It's fine if used on ps5/xbox, not recommended for pc. But I heard it's only about 350M/s in practice (not even as good as sn550)
Dude, we used to run PCs on mechanical hard drives.

I think the point he was trying to make was that the cost per gb isn't worth the added cost vs buying a cheaper wd550 branded ssd. That being said, I bought this for my l5pro

Seems like a good deal. Is the SN850 from best buy worth an extra $50?

Absolutely. Double the read/write speeds, and more.

Friendly reminder, it won't work on XBox as it uses 2230. A chinese company is making an external adapter that can house m.2 but only 2230 but only a matter of time a full size should be availble.

slow for gen4. When gen 3 maxes out at 3400ish, seems like this drive is just barely faster at 3600. Feels like an ok deal.

Then it's not a true nvme 4 drive.. why have the faster standard if it's not in the spec of nvme4? Nvme 4 starts at 5000MB read and 4000MB write.. anything less is a dud set of chips which never met the RW spec and are downgraded.

^^this

No dram cache means it may slow down to even mechanical hard drive speeds, as well as have a shorter lifespan. I'd really recommend the non-SE version over this, even at this discount.
