I just picked one up today at Costco and can confirm that the Roku YouTube app does support speed change range of 0.25x to 2x.
Tested the 2x speed and the audio is played quite fast to a point of being unintelligible!
But if your brain works 2x faster than mine, then you should be able to understand it!

Be forewarned that this model seems to have bad vignetting / uneven brightness at the corners and edges. It's very noticeable with solid colors (do an all white screen test via YouTube and you'll see what I mean!) ... but not so for movies and dark backgrounds. Thought it was a defective tv, but a replacement had the same issue but was slightly less uneven.

I'm keeping the replacement since it has all the other bells and whistles for the given reasonable covid, post China tariff price of $349 at the warehouse:

* eARC
* Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos
* Auto Low Latency Gaming Mode + VRR
* Native Roku which I wholeheartedly recommend
* Alexa basic voice control via Roku Skill (manual did not disclose how to enable voice activation)
* Very loud sound which is decent enough for everyday use
* Reasonably bright screen using the "Brighter"/"Normal" video screen options

Why is this thread labeled "expired" and moved to Deal Talk? Costco stock is somewhat regional, so it'll be OOS for some zip codes and in stock for others

Does anyone know how the model lines of the Hisense compare?

R7G5 vs U6GR5?

How does this compare with the 58" Hisense (2020 model) from Walmart?

They both have their advantages.

R6 Review (55" version)
https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/r6090g

R7 Reviews (rtings hasn't reviewed it, these reviews are quite old and only the 50" the current model may be different)
https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/hisense-50r7e
https://www.techradar.com/reviews...hd-roku-tv

My takeaway:
R6 has significantly better contrast (5408:1 vs 3441:1)
R7 is brighter (~300nits vs ~250nits)
Both seem to have similar color quality (Neither can quite cover DCI-P3, but cover basically all of sRGB/Rec.709)
The 55R7G5 has a 3 year warranty vs the 1 year on the 58R6E3

Thanks. That was very helpful.

So . . . which is better - more contrast or more brightness? The intended viewing location is never overly bright, so I'm thinking a bit more contrast may be more valuable than a bit more brightness.

Gotcha, thx....I just thought they had to be transported vertically due to something inside the panel.... may that was on plasmas or something🤷 ā™‚ļø dunno...but good to know..thx again
I believe that was the case with Plasma panels, which is why the 50" Panasonic plasma I have hanging in my basement will be sold with the house. :-)

The longer warranty and getting a good clean panel.

Haha, marketplace that panny. There is a somewhat thriving used market for them. Got a 55GT50 for a slick bill. Very happy with that purchase for a little used bedroom set. Amazing how those TV's still look great. My parents and in laws have them too and they just wont die. Dont make em like that any more.

I have Chrome cast from last year but can't set it up. Any ideas? Thanks
Plug it in, switch to that input and run through the setup? Not sure what the issue is is that doesn't work. Did it ever work?

I have the newer ones with GTV and they are great other than needing restarts from time to time.

I'd prefer better contrast and bigger size, almost all 58" models have some backlight bleed around the edges (brighter edges), but that seems to be pretty common among all budget TV's nowadays.

I think it's tolerable during normal viewing, but if you'd use it as a PC monitor it would probably not be usable.

For a real step up with better HDR/Brightness/Quality control the U6G or U7G would be a good option.

The 3 year warranty is nice but one could get a protection plan. There is no guarantee this display has less backlight bleed compared to other models.

Plus, it works as a room heater and lowers your heating cost during winter Smilie

You get 5 years coverage if purchased with CITI Costco VISA. With a questionable longevity of TVs in this tear, it's almost a necessity in my opinion.

3 years plus whatever your CC gives you. 5 years total with Costco card.

Right there is no guarantee so get it from somewhere where returns are easy and not questioned if if doesn't look really good to you. You may need to go through a few unfortunately to get a good one.

Yeah, that could be worth the difference. Although I have a 5 year old 50" H8C and it still works fine.

I think the most common reason TV's fail is that they get too hot, I have had a simple quiet USB fan pulling air through mine and it's also wall mounted so it's stayed very cool. Have also been running full brightness for the majority of the 5 years (probably in the range of 10,000-15,000 hours on it).

Also, with these cheaper models there is always a risk of getting many in a row with bad BLB, or the first one you get has the least BLB.

The 58R6E3 I have has edge bleed but is surprisingly consistent on the rest of the image. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep it yet, I missed the 65" U6G at $499 which would have been much better all around.

If I have to go through more then a couple I'm getting something else! Panel lottery process is horrible but I cant afford a QC'd OLED from Value Electronics so I have to do it myself.

I actually ordered the android U6G 65 as the Roku one had mixed early experiences and I didn't really want a Roku set. Helps that that was the one that rtings reviewed so I have a little more comfort level there. We'll see.

Yeah, one downside with the Roku U6G is that it only has 11 point WB adjustment vs 21 point on the Android version. After calibration I just disconnected the R6 from the internet I just use Shield TV's and Chromecast TV's anyway.

Thanks. I actually forgot the whole process & realized that I had to plug it in the usb port. Contacted CS via app and they were helpful . I didn't put it in that input. as well.

Bought and am returning. I'm all for Hisense (only brand I have) but this is definitely a dud. Disappointing.

What sort of issues did you run into, the consensus seems mostly positive in the comments here.
