When I did my cost-benefit analysis on a chair, I considered how much time I'd spend in it. If you work from home and spend 6-10hrs/day sitting in it, spending 2-3X on a comfortable chair is going to be far more worthwhile than most other ways you could spend that money. Me, I like to work almost entirely from my couch, so I skimped on the chair and spent a little extra for a reclining sofa. 😎
I use the Leap at work and loved it so much I convinced my manager to purchase me one for home (as I am doing hybrid work). It's so understated, but the most fantastic feeling chair ever and supports your back well.
I was going to pull the trigger if the Amex $150 was still active, but it's not. How much better might a deal get? I don't know if I can stomach dropping this much on a chair!

Seems like a good deal if you want the Gesture w/ headrest. Also a bonus that Amazon will accept returns until Jan. 31 compared to a 14-day return if purchased from Steelcase. Anyone know if returns are free with Amazon like they are with Steelcase? I don't see "free returns" on the listing like other products on Amazon.

All "Sold by Amazon.com" products have same return policy?

Any input? Leap (add headrest) or Gesture (come with headrest)?
Thanks

No headrest on my Leap. I normally don't sit back like that on my chair and a headrest would be a waste for me. If you like to sit back a lot, probably spring for one? I also hear good things about the Gesture, but personally have never sat in one.

I just purchased the gesture with headrest from the same listing for the original price a couple weeks ago. I've contacted amazon, and they refuse to do a price adjustment even though my item is well within its return period.
While this item can be returned through January, there appears to be a $75 return fee. This means I would only save about $100 by going through the effort of the return process and repurchasing at the lower price. I haven't decided if I feel like doing that yet.
As far as the chair goes, it's decent but haven't decided yet if it's my forever char. I have the Leap at work (without headrest), and had never tried the gesture before purchasing it. I'm 6'2 and a skinny build. I find that the headrest doesn't seem to be in a great position to be used ever, and is pretty flimsy. I can put my head back on it, but not while I'm looking at my computer screen typically. I also find that the seat pan is at least 3 inches too short, even extended as far as it will go.

I would just keep trying, you will also have better chance with Amazon phone support than chat.

how does the leap and gesture compare then? I'm trying to figure out between these and the Aeron and having a hard time... nothing seems quite good enough since my behind still suffers. gesture is better for back support, but aeron has the best of all three.
TIA for any recommendations!

I spoke with them on the phone, though maybe I'll try again with another rep. They seemed pretty sure in their policy... I also tried reaching out to steelcase themselves, but it appears their support is off until Monday.

For me, all discomfort is in my rear end. I almost never have back pain as I tend to sit with pretty good posture. That's my main focus when it comes to reviewing chairs.
The leap feels a bit more conventionally comfortable, and seems to cup your rear and back a bit better. The seat itself I found bottomed out a bit (my chair at work is of unknown age, so that could just be from wear) but was still comfortable. The arms are pretty weird. I'm not sure if mine was broken or if I'm just an idiot, but they were always sliding around and lefty at angles and felt/looked stupid. I've sat in this chair for almost 2 years, and while I found it pretty comfortable, definitely couldn't sit still a full 8 hours per day. In combination with a standing desk it was suitable, but would prefer something else probably.
I've only had the gesture a couple weeks and don't sit in it as much as I do my leap at work, so my opinion is still developing. Ergonomic chairs like this you need to get setup just right, and also learn how to sit in them comfortably... The gesture feels more like it forces your body into position. The lumbar curve is more pronounced, though it is not hard, so you can round your back into it if needed. The back is a bit taller, and at 6'2 the top of my shoulders are just a bit higher, but my shoulder blades can rest on it. The seat itself is flatter and the cushion is a bit stiffer, but I don't bottom out like on the leap. I haven't decided if I find the seat comfortable yet, but I'm not quite crazy about it. As mentioned above, it's not quite long enough, so I feel like more pressure it right on my rear and not distributed to my legs, which becomes uncomfortable after a while. The arms are much better. They can be customized to almost any angle, and put almost completely out of the way (I play guitar, this is helpful). They don't lock in the lateral direction so they can get moved, but I like them all the way out so they tend to stay put, much better than the Leap. My leap doesn't have a headrest, so I can't compare. The gestures as I said is a bit flimsy, but it can be workable. Ultimately I don't use it that much, though.
I have no experience with an Aeron, but have a Mirra 2 that I sat in for a couple years at home. I find the mesh to be extremely uncomfortable after an hour or less. Some people seem to like it, though.

I was going to pull the trigger if the Amex $150 was still active, but it's not. How much better might a deal get? I don't know if I can stomach dropping this much on a chair!
