Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is the debut movie for the character Shang-Chi and the 25th movie in the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). As Shang-Chi is living a simple life as a valet with his best friend Katy, he's pulled back into the family crime business by his father, the Mandarin, and master of the Ten Rings. Along with Shang-Chi's sister, Xialing, they must learn what happened to their mother and then stop their father before he unleashes something capable of destroying the world. Can Shang-Chi and his allies fulfill their destinies and stop the Mandarin once and for all?
This movie, like all the others before it, connects to other movies in the MCU, notably pulling from the first and third Iron Man movies featuring the Ten Rings. Also, it pulls history from a lesser-known 14-minute-long Marvel One-Shot "All Hail the King". This short movie takes place after Iron Man 3 and follows up on the history of the Ten Rings as well as what happened to the Trevor Slattery character.
There are also some pleasant surprises in the form of connections to Doctor Strange and even The Incredible Hulk. Even without knowing that history, the movie stands on its own for newcomers and die-hard Marvel fans alike.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, this is his first Marvel movie. It received high marks for its representation of Asian culture as well as its impressive martial arts fights choreography. Its screenplay is by Dave Callaham, Destin Daniel Cretton, and Andrew Lanham. It premiered exclusively in theaters on Sept. 3rd, 2021 throughout its theatrical run, earning over 224 million dollars domestically and over 207 million dollars internationally. In total, it earned over 431 million dollars, making it the highest-grossing movie of 2021. Critics gave it a 92% rating on RottenTomatoes.com, while audiences gave it a 98% score.
This movie drops on DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K Ultra HD on
Tuesday, November 30th. There are two retailer exclusives for this movie as well, so let's find out the details.

Best Prices:
I did a price comparison on both the internet and this week's circulars with Amazon.com, Best Buy, BestBuy.com, BarnesandNoble.com, Costco.com (no listings for some reason), DeepDiscount.com, FYE, FYE.com, Overstock.com, Target, Target.com, and Walmart.com. Unless otherwise noted or known by me, the prices are the same in-store and online at their respective websites. I noted shipping in the price rankings because of the competition between stores, but I will only be comparing the base prices of the movie. Shipping costs will not factor into the price rankings as a result.
Please note that with these price rankings, these prices are as current as I am aware of. Walmart's in-store prices don't always match its website prices, for example. As a result, these prices are as accurate as I can verify from the internet and flyers from the newspaper, I don't put prices in the rankings that I cannot verify.
I fully expect there to be further price changes on Tuesday when the movie is released to stores. This is especially true with Amazon's prices, which are NOT available online yet. I'll be updating this thread again on Tuesday and double-checking all the prices.
On a side note, this is why Amazon's prices aren't online yet and why they don't do pre-orders for a Disney owned movie:
https://consumerist.com/2014/08/1...-blu-rays/
For example, in the past, Kmart.com/Sears.com will presumably sell all versions of a movie, but there are no listings for it online but only in Kmart's circular. So, I can only rank the price at the store and not the price on the website. I also know from experience that FYE's B&M store prices are the same as those on their website, so I made one listing for both. In other words, these stores reserve the right to change their prices and I might not know about it.
That's where the SD community can help each other out and if new or different prices are verified, I will edit my post accordingly.
When I checked online, I found no listings for this movie on Costco.com or Walmart (no sales circular). A note about Walmart's prices, they have proven to be notoriously regional in the past and they rarely have a weekly circular available online. When it is available online,
the circular prices in it are national or mostly national. Hopefully, the prices online will be national, with little price variation.
I'm making a slight adjustment to my price rankings, as I will now only include the top five prices in this thread. Basically, if a retailer's price stinks, it doesn't get to be a part of this compilation list.
I will still do a full price comparison to all the stores I listed above, but only the best prices will be included here. So if you don't see a particular store on the list, it means their price wasn't good enough to be included. It also means that if their price isn't included here, you should go to a retailer whose price WAS included on this list and try to get the other retailer to price match it, if possible.
Here are the conclusions:

Don't forget that you can price match any edition of this DVD or Blu-Ray to the store of your choice if they have a price matching policy. There might also be some store-specific coupons or online coupon codes floating around that could help bring some of these prices down further.
Given the price competition for this movie, there are some great price-matching opportunities, especially due to the aggressive price matching policies stores like Best Buy, Target, and Walmart continue to utilize.

You can certainly purchase this movie digitally at the online retailer of your choice for $19.99. However, when you buy the Blu-Ray or the 4K editions of this movie, it comes with a digital code, so you don't have to do so unless that is your preference.
__________________________________________________________________________
I included as much pertinent information on this new release that I could find so everyone can make a more educated decision on whether to purchase this movie or not, as well as which edition they prefer. Also, if you were in the store and didn't know which edition to get, you could pull up this thread on your smartphone and use it to figure it out right there on the spot. (Of course, given the ongoing threat of COVID-19, you might not be in the store to begin with.)
For those of you who read these threads from start to finish, there is plenty of detail for everyone. I've noticed that a lot of the questions people put in these threads could be answered if they read the OP carefully. I would heartily encourage you to do so, as it might answer the question(s) you have before you even have to ask.
And that is the end of this compilation, my first New Release Thread for the year 2021. There are two retailer exclusives for physical media this time around. It should make it easier to decide what edition and which exclusive you might want.
Remember, when you make your final mid-credits scene in the mighty Marvel manner, make sure it is tantalizing as possible with awesome cameos and questions about the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Also, make sure you release it on physical media one day after Cyber Monday and six days after Black Friday so it can be sold at full price.

Nothing against the movie, loved it, would have bought it. But it's clear that disney is pushing people to disney+ and shafting the physical media.
The fact is the physical media isn't even equivalent to the Disney+ version, it's worse.

But no imax sound
They have all the marvel movies in imax enhanced on Disney plus. I think this still lacks the imax audio.

People with truly capable sub systems are either left dissatisfied or have to rely on other means to restore the lower octaves.
that said, this isn't really a "hot" deal per se, just a rundown of the retail releases, which is fine. good sign that pre-orders of the bb/tgt exclusives are sold out, but hopefully they'll be available in stores. i miss the days of toys 'r' us pre-order bonuses, target pre-order gift cards, moviestop trade-in 3 for 1 new releases..
I can't speak for AQ first hand, but I'm assuming it's going to be better than the stream but from what, I hear it's marginal at best. Disney is known for their sub-par atmos mixes and this one seems to be no exception. There are reviews online that show the atmos viewer for this movie and for a lot of the action sequences, the overhead channels were either static or not being used at all.
Bass was also not very punchy so seems like the AQ loss over streaming would be marginal for this film.
Sorry felt like my first post came off as a little preachy, people can do whatever they want with their money.
But as a proponent of physical media, this seems like a pretty lazy release. And again, I like this movie. But for most people the Disney+ stream would provide a better experience.
For those interested, there are reviews of physical media that judge purely on video and audio quality and Disney releases are continually the worst in the industry.
If the OP had truly been that passionate about educating people about Shang Chi deals he would have posted last week that Target had B2G1 on all movies including preorders. I bought the new Bond, Venom 2, and Shang Chi all in 4k for $20 each, return eligible til Jan 31 in case a better deal comes along for rebuy return.
I see that your new here.
This member has been doing this for a number of years, back when you only had paper circulars (I think it began in the early Marvel days). So it's a good post for a high percentage of users.
Also, this member goes into detail about the various movie promotions that will be available. Big releases for home movies come in all varieties, maybe 20+ variations. It's nice to have everything listed with prices.
Lastly, these prices do change on the release dates 9 out of 10 times. He or anyone else for that matter will not know those prices, only what they currently say. In addition, some of the variations he's listed don't qualify for previous sale/B2G1 sale prices (Steel books, Super Master-Blaster Editions).
Finally, his info is for what's out there on release day and what price, not what "coulda been". I'm sure another Slickdealer posted the deal you got at the time or if not, you should have posted that for everyone to use.
This dude stays in his lane and does it VERY well for many years. I think people should practice the same.
