Amazon Prime: PS5-able Inland Performance 1TB PCIe Gen 4.0 NVMe 4 x4 SSD M.2 2280 TLC $104

Requires Amazon Prime, for which, I believe, there are free trial options.

This is a PCIe Gen 4, high endurance (1800 TBW), TLC, DRAM, etc - 5000/4300 MB/s Read/Write. The very first comment in the Amazon reviews is that it works with PS5. It's not the very fastest Gen 4 drive you'll find, but it's fast.

Other than the Newegg Spatium M470 deal (now long gone), this seems like the cheapest 5000 MB/s read SSD this Black Friday/Cyber Monday season.

Says it runs at 5,000 mb/s when the PS5 site has minimum speed requirements of 5,500. However, I have seen people stating they have had slower drives working fine, and two of the reviews stated this ran above 5,500 mb/s (barely) when testing. Not sure if getting a drive that technically works in the PS5 but at a slower recommended speed will be an issue down the line, but this is a solid deal either way. Thanks for the post OP.

Yeah I've seen that too.
One thing I've seen is no one knows why Sony made those requirements
So with that said anyone buying these is taking a risk future wise, as they may get more strict. At the same time maybe it will become more lax
No one knows, only time will tell🤷

Warranty is handled by going into a Micro Center store for those of you wondering. This may or may not be good depending on how close you are to one. These are basically Phison E16 reference designs.

A decent aftermarket heatsink should only cost $10 - $13, definitely not $30.

Correct. This and the MSI Spatium M470 (and many other drives from other manufacturers) are effectively brothers from different mothers because they all have the Phison E16 controller. If you see Gen 4 drives with around 5000 MB/s read and around 4400 write, chances are it's a Phison E16 design.

Another option: Get 10% off new member sign up coupon at westerndigital and stack with the 20% off cyber Monday racket ten discount. You could buy 1TB WD BLACK SN850 w/heatsink (WDS100T1XHE) for ($250 -$25 -$40) = $185.(plus tax.) 7000 MB/s read speed and 5300 MB/s write speed.

The 1TB SN850 is available at Best Buy for $150 thru the end of today - and if you can go into Best Buy, you can even get this down to $127.50. Then buy a cheap heatsink.

1,800 TBW is pretty good, if not a misprint.

Same price in store at Microcenter if you have one local and you don't want the Amazon/UPS driver punting it.

So this WILL require an aftermarket heatsink as well for PS5? I bought a WD SN750 for about same price from Amazon in late sept still BNIB so going to try to do a "one time exception" return, but I should keep the aftermarket heatsink I bought as I will still need one? Thx, the faster speed is tempting. hug

Much better, the SN750 SE is a bad drive.

Definitely not a PS5 expert, so someone else will have to answer.

It's sold out now but yes it would require a Heatsink. Fortunately there are tons of options on Amazon ranging between $10 - $13.
