Man I'll tell you the warm light is worth spending up for.
To be completely fair this process isn't difficult nor time consuming. It's actually just a few more clicks and presses than you've described.

That process is more involved than buying on Amazon and downloading via wireless, of course. But that's the price you pay working outside of Amazon's ecosystem.

True. It's not complicated. But some people just want to have a drag and drop option. So, it's better to inform and let them decide.

On Amazon, when I look at the 'Used' versions of the current basic Kindle, which start at $39.99, I see an offer saying 'add to cart for another 20% off", so the price drops to $32. YMMV https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...3NWQ&psc=1

Since Amazon generally has a 30 day return policy, that's about the Max wear on the 'Used' Kindles in the Amz Warehouse. Compared to these Woot models, which could have been sent back under warranty or are old trade-ins, both mighthave really high mileage on them.

I just traded my old Kindle in for new Paperwhite. I used it almost every day for the last 3 years. It works okay but I still wouldn't anyone else recommend buying it.
Just my opinion. Carry on.

Which of these versions being sold at Woot (if any) have the warm light feature?

None. You need the Kindle Oasis 10th Gen (which was recently on sale for $175) or the new Paperwhite (which was on sale for $105).

Doesn't the one they are selling for $29.99 have the light option? It says

Amazon Kindle (2019 Model, With Ads) 4GB Wi-Fi E-Reader (Your Choice: Black or White)
Adjustable brightness lets you read comfortably—indoors and outdoors, day and night.

Is this the case, can you read in a dark room on this $29.99 Woot model?

Is warm light different from the way this model lights up? Is this model overly bright for night time reading?

It has (blue) light, but not the warm (orange) light feature.

So blue light = makes you not sleepy? Still considering one of these since I don't read much at night but would like to start.

There are claims that using blue light at night disrupts your Circadian rhythm and prevents you from falling asleep. Some people are fine with using blue (white) light at night on ereaders. Personally, I find the warm (orange) light ones more relaxing. Both the Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Oasis listed in the sale page has dark mode, but no warm light.

Thanks for the extra info. Is a kindle easier on the eyes vs a fire tablet screen as a reader?

Yep. Tablets and phones are back-lit. The LEDs are shining light into your eye from behind the screen. Ereaders are front-lit. They are positioned to shine light on to the e-ink screen from the sides. So, the exposure is supposed to be lesser.

there's also the 2017 version of paper white used on amazon starting at $38.25 [amazon.com] - 20% = $30.68, and the current gen regular kindle for $41.80 [amazon.com] - 20% = $33.40

so what's better? a 2017 paperwhite or current gen 'regular' one? I see the current gen regular is 167ppi and 8gb and the older paperwhites are 300dpi with 4gb, any other differences?
