Bestbuy had it had the 3070 ver on sale for black friday at 1500. i picked that one up. right now its 1850. but the 3080 ver on sale at 1900 but that a be nut to crack tho.
That's Zephyrus G15 which is a 15.6" laptop. G14 maxed out to RTX 3060 60W-80W. The only 14" laptop which comes with a RTX 3070 (90W-100W) is Razer Blade 14, priced at $2.2k.

I don't use this for gaming, but I teach remotely and am on Zoom for 10h increments usually projecting some pretty intense modeling / statistical analysis work and haven't skipped a beat with this laptop. It's a little…gamer-y looking, but gets me what I need for a good price.
This doesn't have a webcam though does it? Guessing you must have to use a USB one.

Not sure if this helps but don't upgrade windows from 10 to 11 on ASUS ROG 14. There is some kind off which is causing frequent reboots(event ID 41 task category 63). This is happening to me from last one month on my ASUS ROG G14(everyday 10 reboots at least). Till date, no response ASUS support or whatever I found in internet is not fixing frequent reboots.

I've owned the 2021 G14 as well as the G15. Both excellent machines. Very good speakers on both (I thought the G14 was actually louder). Both can get quite hot though Ryzen Controller can help cap that. Excellent keyboards on both - the G14's lighting is better than last year's, but still can wash out the keys in certain lightings. Obviously the G15 has more power and you can game at native 1440p. The build quality on the G14 is definitely better - such a dense little piece of kit! The G15 is creaky.

No webcam on either but they're two of the best smaller gaming laptops of 2021, IMHO. And like was mentioned, these don't look too flashy and will eat up just about any other task you throw at them.

You may need to read in details about how Dual Channel Ram works. You can go up to 40GB here by adding a 32GB stick to the ram slot and still runs 16GB portion (8GB soldered + 8GBportion of the SODIMM module). Google Dual Channel Hybrid Mode or Flex Mode.
My understanding from years of DIY PCs is the best performance comes from two RAM modules of the same capacity, layout, and density.

While I'm sure you can run in a flex set up, it will not be as fast as the above according to everything I have read, including googling the flex setup.

And with Ryzen 3 this is even more important.

I have this and it's great. From my experience it runs everything at 1080p high detail 60+ fps. I'm sure there are exceptions to that. But for the most part it handles everything well.

The machine is stable and everything works as it should. Great size to performance. Works great for general use and gaming.

I find all the negative reviews and comments that appear on sd when this is posted amusing. I just play games and enjoy them.. if you're into nit picking ..which appears to be a form of entertainment with anything pc gaming related.. I read thst the display has slow response time. I don't notice it. The price to performance here is excellent and at 1300 it's a steal.

Might be worthwhile to upgrade the 8gb non-soldered RAM to one with faster timings. Ryzen benefits off of ram speed and Asus unfortunately installed slow RAM in these.

Fair enough, I just like the convenience of it right there without being a peripheral. You're right though, the built-ins are not the greatest quality. They work for me though for the little amount of zoom/Teams calls I have to do.

Do whatcha want but a 20ms response time on a 144hz screen is unacceptable to me. It is otherwise perfect. There is a 1440p 120hz version but a 3060 can't quit handle 1440p.

Maybe next year.

Still, if you aren't overly sensitive to response time, it's a great deal for sure.
Where does it say 20ms response time?

The 2020 model had a 20ms response time and ghosting was very obvious, which is why I didn't buy one. The 2021 model has a much better display and the ghosting has gotten a lot better, but it's still slightly noticeable when compared to better displays. I ended up buying one but returning it due to the speaker crackling issue in silent mode. The display was noticeably better than last year's though.

Actually, if you do buy one, make sure to check it for quality control issues because I returned one of these, the M16, and G15 all within a couple of months because they all had issues.

It doesn't. Asus will never advertise that. But there are plenty of reviews that measure the gray-to-gray response time which is the standard measurement for gaming.

The 1440p 120hz model has a 9ms response time which is acceptable but it's A) not on sale and B) too much for a 3060 IMO. 1080p doesn't scale well on a 1440p screen, it looks bad IMO.

I have the 2020 version. I absolutely love this machine. I upgraded RAM to 40GB and put a 2TB NVME stick in it. I've been running Windows 11 for a month or so now and it's been great.

I run a number of VM's, basically a full lab environment in a 14" laptop and it doesn't skip a beat.
I've owned a number of laptops and this one is by far my favorite. As long as Asus keeps upgrading this line I'll be buying again in the future.
