Isn't 10mg quite a bit more than the recommended dose? I use gummies and pills and the recommended dose varies a lot but I've never seen it this high
Solid deal though
Your doctor is correct. 10 mg is way way too much, it may wreck hormonal balance and adrenal glands health if taken on a regular basis. Most people with irregular sleep problems need btw 0.5mg and 1.5mg total, if anyone needs more to fall asleep they must seriously consider changes to their lifestyle.
More is not better. Not sure why this is on the homepage. Don't buy this.

As others have said, 10mg is way too much. These frickin "supplement" companies don't operate with the same regulations as other manufacturers and basically do whatever they want. This is a ridiculously high dose.

I have significant sleep issues and my pulmonologist has me taking 20mg per night. Yes this is quite a bit, but talk to your doctor about what is right for you.
If these were tablets and not pills you could break them up and take half or a quarter. 10mg is way too much. I used to take that because I thought I had a high tolerance. Turns out that taking too much keeps you awake
Some of the studies I've read suggest .3mg (300mcg) as the ideal dosage of melatonin. As many others have noted here, too high of a dosage can actually counteract the desired effect.
Listen/read what Matthew Walker (sleep researcher neuroscientist) says about melatonin. Tldr: it doesn't help with sleep, just assists in the starting process. It's banned in the UK. Some bad outcomes in rat studies. Reconsider as there are better natural solutions which accomplish the same thing.
I use 10 mg, plus doxylamine to make me sleep properly during the day, I work night shifts 12 hours, 10 mg plus OTC doxylamine works for me, tried 10 mg with 50 mg Benadryl didn't work for me, I only use it 3 times a week when I work
I would consider limiting your intake of melatonin.
It will make it so that the pineal gland no longer makes melatonin naturally and on its own. Meaning, you will always have to rely on a supplement to get sleepy.

This.
Best thing you can do is stay on a regular schedule and get outside for a few minutes right after you wake up to get some morning sunlight.
If you want supplements theanine and one of the forms of magnesium that passes the brain-blood barrier will help a fair bit with getting to sleep and, more importantly, actually improve sleep quality.
Highly recommend neuroscientist Andrew Huberman's sleep podcasts on youtube if you're interested in more details.
300 mcg, I believe, is the recommended dosage to try initially.
Yes that's correct and that translates into 3mg. Sometimes I take half of a 3mg gummy and it does well for me.
to be clear, everyone is different and I am just stating my own experience. you should always talk to a doctor before you start taking high doses of anything.
10mg is too much melatonin. And since this is a capsule, no way to split the dose. I bought a few months ago and stopped using after a couple of times when I woke up in the night and was extremely groggy. Most of the time I split a 3mg pill in half for my normal dose, which I don't like to take every day, just occasionally.
