Yes, when you are awakened in the middle of the night by home invasion or worse, by the time you get to the safe and get it opened, it may prove to be less than worthless.

Oh, about $360 plus tax and maybe more hair lossage. But, it should be a hit for about 15 minutes on Christmas.

Like the carbolic acid hair shampoos, stimulating with 'laser' does not sound positive for what he still has left. After all, don't they use laser for hair removal? Smilie .... I believe one is to also use biotin, minoxidil, finasteride, etc., that on their own are used for hair regrowth.

Nevertheless, of those FDA approved LLLT devices that probably are not unhealthy by the small dosage emitted, no real controlled studies by the now incompetent FDA have been done to prove any of them actually do anything to regrow hair. Similar to UL approved, it does not mean whatever actually works, but rather it is allegedly not harmful by the standards.

As a card carrying sucker, I bought the hair helmet on recommendation from my previous plastic surgeon. After using it for a year, I can confirm it did nothing for me. And to top it off, I stopped using Minoxidil as instructed whilst using the dome and saw a regression in my hair situation.

I can't believe they're still hocking this thing but those of us who are struggling with hair loss tend to be a fragile bunch who cling to any possible solution.

I'm here to tell you, Minoxidil is your best bet for a few years while you save up for a hair transplant which is the real solution. If you don't suffer side effects from finasteride or dutasteride, that may be a good solution if you're okay with taking it for the rest of your life.

Maybe the 'dome works for some people, I don't know, but it absolutely did nothing for me aside from set me back a year of rogaine gains and cost me 7 Benjamins. Fin and dut work wonders for some but for others (like me) the side effects are unbearable. But they're worth a try imo. Talk to your doctor.

For those who are curious, my transplant was done in San Diego with Dr. Chen, 11 grand for 3000 grafts from the back of my head to the hairline and sparse areas around the top and I still have enough hair back there for two more transplants. It's very expensive and took me a long time to save for, but I started years ago when I first started losing my hair and the results are 100% worth it to me. If you can't shave it for whatever reason, start saving now. Don't waste your time on anything that isn't Min, Fin, Dut, or a transplant.
Thank you for the details,esp.Transplant. Did you consider going to Mexico for transplant ? Heard pretty cheap compared to stateside

Overall, this is good advice. The prescription drugs are proven and safe. Been around decades. It helped me. Once a day not bad. Does interfere with sex drive so up to you. Didn't bother me too much. Ask your doctor. I've stopped bc taking a pill seems weird to me. I'll prob get the transplant soon. Got plenty hair around back. Just gotta see the side effects and recovery etc.

As for the laser, I gave it a shot for $300. Def not $500+. I think Heat and Light does some good. I've noticed when my hair hits the morning sun, there's a tingling sensation that's stimulating my scalp. I love it. I'm noticing a similar sensation after the first try. I'm waiting to see how the 4x per week work out. It might be too much commitment lol. Wearing the device is strange. Prob will get fed up one day. I'll try for 6 months. If the results are close to Finasteride (which isn't much), I'd consider a win. Fin can be costly too $10/ month plus doctor visit every year. For $300, worth a shot.

I had read a few not-so-great things about the doctors over the border. I'm sure much of it is racist conjecture but I didn't want to take the chance or deal with the headache of crossing back into the US after getting the transplant because believe me, you will be WIPED OUT tired and sore and bleeding. They allow you to drive, but driving 10 minutes on surface roads is a lot easier than hauling ass from Tijuana to Talmadge and dealing with customs.

Had Covid not been a thing, I probably would have flown to Turkey for a week. The doctors there have a great reputation, most speak English, and in normal times you can fly there and back and get the transplant all for less than half of what I paid here in San Diego if reddit is to be believed. But there is something to be said for the comfort of your own home after a procedure like that.

I'm glad it's working for you man. I'm not one to say it won't work for anybody because I believe fin and dut are good for many people, so the helmet may be great for some.

I'm just sharing my experience with the theradome and, by extension, dutasteride. It did affect my sex drive, yes but that's not the issue I had with it. When it dilutes your sex drive you don't really miss it because you have to have a sex drive to miss sex, haha. I could have lived with that. My issue with it was mor extreme.

First, brain fog. Some people report this issue but I don't think it's talked about enough. I couldn't concentrate on anything for more than a couple seconds. And it wasn't that I was then turning my attention to something else, I would end up with no thoughts at all. Even watching TV, I couldn't really follow the stories unless I'd watched them before. Short term memory was decimated. I couldn't even remember how to spell common words. It was bad. And for a programmer, it threatened my career.

The other big issue was that it completely drained me of motivation. I am normally a very driven person, but when I was on dut I didn't want to do anything besides sit on the couch and watch tv. Chores went undone, hobbies went unindulged and I neglected my day job which is very much unlike me since I love my job. Nothing excited me or gave me joy. Nothing even angered or annoyed me. I was just a blank shell of a person.

My girlfriend said to me, "If this is what the meds do to you then I'd prefer you go bald."

I realized it was not worth it then. Because when you're in this funk you don't realize that it's affecting your life because you're not motivated enough to care. Only looking back on who I was whilst taking it did I understand the extent of the damage it was causing to my life and relationships.

I don't want to scare off anyone considering the drugs because many do see great benefits with little side effects and after stopping the dosing I can say with confidence that I am back to normal 100%. It took about two months for the side effects to stop after ending my relationship with dut, but they eventually did stop. So if anyone reading this is concerned they might have my experience, you probably won't. But it is something everyone should be aware can happen and for those unlucky few like me I'm advising you to watch yourself while you're on it. Don't let yourself slip into the hole because you might not have a third party to pull you out of it.

I read that transplant is not permanent, and can fall like before, if you're not using the medication

Hehehehe, if you can't throw $300 to test it, then you have bigger problems, like being "cheap"...
If you read you'll see that some are happy, some not. The only way to tell is to try it and see.
