I love this battery pack, You have to have your expectations tempered to what this is - not really a portable charger, but an extended battery. If you put this on your phone when your phone is at 10% battery, then this will charge you up to 65 or 70% and quickly die. However, if you put this on your phone in the AM when your battery is charged, it only gives juice when needed and when I go to bed at night the battery is dead but my phone is in the 80 - 85%. And I use my phone quite a bit.

It also is soft to the touch and feels nice. Still, I wish it was $50 but the tech is cool (albeit a little basic) but it works well. Add battery widget to your phone if you buy it and it'll track all your batteries - airpods, watch, iphone, this thing.

The Snap+ and most of the other chargers are really just Qi (wireless) chargers with magnets. The Apple charger is true MagSafe technology, higher output than Qi (7.5W limit) and reverse charge capable (i.e. if you plug your iPhone in while the battery pack is attached it will also charge the MagSafe battery pack).

I agree that the Apple MagSafe battery is expensive but it is literally a different charging technology, and most people confuse MagSafe vs. Qi.

I agree this isn't the fastest on the planet and not enough capacity as well, but dont you think the slow charging works in it's favor? Less heat generated and less battery degradation?

I think that's yet to be determined, but do know that the MagSafe doesn't charge at a constant 15w due to the iPhone's ability to control it's recharge rate. My guess is that there isn't much difference between MagSafe and wall charging with a higher output adapter.

This design makes a lot of sense for Apple as it minimizes the number of SKUs they have to handle for an extended life battery pack. However, this product makes less sense for the end user as you're effectively having to carry around extra battery simply to overcome the inherent inefficiency of wireless charging. I've seen numbers for MagSafe get estimated above the usual rule of 50% efficiency [appleinsider.com] for wireless charging. Otherwise, if you're toting around lithium batteries in your pocket to get some extra life out of your cell phone, consider not compromising that with a wireless charging scheme.

Good luck!
Jon
