Not bad but these are the SMR's not the CMR, which is much better drives so I'll pass on this one.

I believe anyone in the know will avoid SMR drives regardless of cost.

I'm using one of these for Plex. 99% of the files on the drive are write once, read many, so it doesn't really bother me.

The CMR "plus" drive was $5.00 more a few weeks back. can this be used as an internal PC drive - considering the price?

That's a better idea than in a NAS. SMR is significantly slower in RAID arrays, in particular ZFS and unraid. But probably any similar workload. Even WD recommends a bump up to Red Plus in a NAS:

WD Red™ drives may not be suitable for higher workload environments. For ZFS file systems and overall NAS system compatibility, we highly recommend WD Red™ Plus drives, which are optimized for higher workloads.1 [westerndigital.com]

Will the CMR (Red Plus) make a lot of difference for home NAS like DS220+ (Raid 1)?

Depends on workload... lots of writing then it probably will... just storage then it probably won't.
