It is already 39$ at apple and you can choose from a variety of different colors, pay it through monthly installments too

It's $59. You may be thinking of the older $39 smart cover for the previous generation mini.

I concur with your statement. I bought an iPad Pro on Swappa and the seller threw in an Apple Folio. It basically is this cover with an Apple symbol on it. Personally I like the ESR Slim Rebound case because it has soft TPU that doesn't scratch the tablet and protect the sides from dust and other particles. So I bout one for $15 and sold the Apple Folio and am much happier.

I'm so sorry but I just can't bring myself to provide Apple with any more money. There's so many other options available that don't have the Apple identification printed on them for a fraction of the cost of this one. I bought a leather case with better protection and a keyboard version that's marginally useful but together still added up to less than this. I'm disabled from spinal cancer complications so need to utilize my money carefully (buying toys like these are my bane unfortunately). To each his own; enjoy life!

As you clearly haven't used both, here are the reasons:
  • Apple's case is 100% magnetic, which makes it incredibly easy to remove. The link you provided uses hard corners to snap the iPad into place.
  • Chinese products on Amazon and their reviews cannot be trusted even a little bit. I have personally been contacted by dozens of Chinese manufactures offering free stuff in exchange for positive reviews. In this case, Fakespot gives it a D and ReviewMeta says 50% of the reviews appear to be fake.
  • I have used Apple's folio cases for years, and they still look brand new.
You can say it is 8x the cost for literally the same thing, but that is literally false. You'll buy the $5 case and hate it, ultimately resulting in spending $45 total for the Chinese one and a reputable brand's. Heck, let's put aside the awful grades from FakeSpot and ReviewMeta and look at the real reviews that DID make it to Amazon's page. They claim sleep/wake doesn't work and feels like garbage.

But the main takeaway here is that it is not true at all to claim these cases are the same. You can argue all you want that Apple's case isn't worth the money, and maybe that's true for you or anyone else's personal perspective. But it is NOT a $5 case, I assure you.

There's a good chance that the folio cases with and without the logo come from the same factory (I have a hard time seeing a difference myself) – they certainly aren't made at Foxconn...
