Soft Boiled Egg instructions (white is firm, yolk is soft):
1: Boil water.
2. Add eggs.
3. When water boils, remove pan from stove.
4. Leave egg in pot, off the stove, for 4 minutes.
5. Place egg under running water for about 30 seconds (stops the cooknig).

For Medium Boiled eggs (white is firm, yolk is firm):
In step 3, let water boil with eggs for 2 minutes.

For Hard Boiled eggs (white is firm, yolk is chalky):
In step 3, let water boil with eggs for 4 minutes.

You really don't need an egg cooking appliance.

If you've got an instant pot, I'd suggest cooking eggs in there. It's fast, super easy, and objectively the best way I've found to hard-boil eggs. I always try to avoid unitaskers.

Put the eggs on the little metal rack that comes with the instant pot, dump in a 1/2 cup water - 3 min for runny yolk, 4 for creamy yolk, 5 for fully cooked. Fast release pressure and drop them in cold water.

Added benefit, and I have no idea the science of this, but it seems pressure cooking eggs makes them much easier to peel.

Dietary cholesterol doesn't appear to be as much of a factor as previously thought: https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutr...olesterol/

Also, we love our egg cooker:
Electric means you don't need a kitchen, cook 'em nearly anywhere.
It steams them using much less water than boiling.
Steaming is far faster than boiling.
Cleanup is as easy as wiping it out.

Hint: you'll eventually get a calcium buildup on the hot plate. Vinegar can easily clean that off without scrubbing.

Science!!! 😁👍

I have this one and I love it. It works great. No guessing about if your eggs are done. 👍🏻

2 x 0.79 / dozen eggs
0.50 / 20 overstock tortillas at the mex store
+-------
= $2.08 for 20 small meals

Buy this, and plug it into the train/bus station outlets for additional savings

Yes, you can do that. Just pour less water to cut off steaming time.

Do they also sell the electric eggs or do you have to get those somewhere else?

Set it and leave it if you really don't want to watch the stove. Although it's almost bulletproof boiling water to whatever hard boiled/softboil egg you want. Good find but too many extra appliances on the counter.

one of those appliances that sounds useful, looks useful, but ends up in a cabinet spot permanently untouched after the first week of use.

Honestly, just an extra appliance. If you have an air fryer pre head it to 275 degrees F for 13min and you can put as many eggs as it can fit

Yes to the eggs bring easier to peel. Also can pretty much fill the pot with eggs. I think we have done like 2 dozen.

a couple might crack but we just eat those first.
