Originally said it was going to be 12/8 only, but then Amazon matched so this looks like it's being extended, albeit with a different promocode.

Western Digital's basic DRAM-less Gen 3 drive. 2400/1950 MB/s Read/Write with 600 TBW endurance (solid). Here is WD's datasheet:

Amazon has the 500GB version for $42.99... if you don't need 1TB.
Personally I would never buy a refurb SSD just to save a few bucks. I'd spend a little more to get a new drive with full warranty.
This one is a better deal for a little more.

Based on the one review I found, the brand new 570 would probably be worth $10 more than the 550, especially since the 550 may have suffered from a component swap that lowered its performance whereas a brand new model like the 570 probably hasn't been tampered with yet.

Between the 500gb version VS the best buy certified refurbished Samsung EVO 870 500gb for $39.99, which is better deal, reliable, and performance?

That's a 2.5" SATA drive, while this is a M.2 NVMe drive. They're not comparable.

Or did you mean the 870 Evo Plus for $45? That's comparing a budget-market product (SN550) with a premium-market product (870 Evo) and the latter is definitely worth the extra $2.

Yes but I highly recommend using read-only cache. Recently had my read/write cache crash during a simple reboot and it crashed the entire NAS. Had to decide between manual data recovery and starting clean. Luckily I had a backup but I could see this as catastrophic to many.
