Personally I would never buy a refurb SSD just to save a few bucks. I'd spend a little more to get a new drive with full warranty.

Seems like a good deal. Maybe stupid question, but why is the Amazon list price for the 570 $110 but the list price for the 550 is $120 (list price for faster one is lower than the slower one)? Are they trying to make the 550 seem like a better deal because it's on bigger discount?

Bought a couple a month back when they were $68 directly from wd. They were the newer, degraded NAND version. There is no reason this one isn't.

I just clicked the link for the product, it read speed is 2400. I then googled the minimum read speed requirements for PS5, its 5500. 2400 is <5500 so no. It won't work.

Could you not use google?

A gen 4 (PCIe 4.0) SSD is required for the PS5, which would have shown up instantly in a Google search. This SSD is gen 3 (PCIe 3.0).

It is not stupid question, and I do not now for sure, but here's my theory:
550 was first listed Dec 10 2019 while 570 was first listed Oct 4, 2021
this led me to believe they have a tendency to list a price that was used most of the time between first listed and today, in other words, since Dec 10 2019, most of the time, 550 was listed at $120.

It comes with 5 years warranty. You can read the drive for estimate tbw. It's a good buy for cache drive, internet downloads, lightroom, exports etc.. buy two and raid it for OS???

The warranty probably ends before 5 years if TBW exceeds a set amount. I don't see any reason to raid it for OS unless you are raiding it for reliability and not for speed... but to each their own.

The drive is rated for 600TBW. Doing the math on a 5 year warranty, (600TB / 1826 days) = 0.36 TB per day.

In clearer terms, unless you're writing more than 360 GB per day to the drive, you won't hit 600 TBW before the end of 5 years
