So, if I'm about to buy a PS5, is the Gamestop GC the way to go? I take it the consoles are selling at list everywhere?
I wouldn't buy $500 worth of retailer-specific gift cards in the hopes of getting a PS5 from them. If you've already won the lottery and gotten a PS5 and are in the window to do a return/rebuy, maybe, but I'd still make sure the store was cool with that first. But the odds of both 1.) your Gamestop getting stock anytime soon, and 2.) you getting one of the two or three they get, is pretty low.

gift cards, by law, don't expire. But some retailers have brutal policies for lost/stolen/hacked gift cards.

20% is the normal price. They usually do 25% especially for Nike and Under Armour

Not thrilled that Shutterfly gift cards have been 'unavailable' on Discover for the last week during prime holiday card purchasing season.

L-o-n-g time for plastic mailed. Do NOT expect them in time for Christmas. Ordered several on 12/2 for local gifting, and they're still not here.

Just spoke to a supervisor, and she told me they were mailed yesterday and should be here by next Thursday - that's 3 weeks (like the fine print).

At the top of the page it says they are mailed in 3 days, but apparently the fine print says to allow 3 weeks.

I always use my cash back to pay my bill, should I be saving for stuff like this, or what is the optimal use?

I think all the clothing ones are just normal affairs. Only the Happy cards and Gamestop got a bump to 20%, so I got couple Happy Holidays cards for Lowes and Gamestop use.

It's a bit YMMV, but since the store runs these as a debit card you can use them at Lowes to buy other gift cards. Last year I redeemed several Happy cards for Amazon cards, and will probably do the same again. Just don't tell the cashier what you're using and it's unlikely they will catch it.
When you empty the card, the sale system now asks the cashier to key in the last 4 digits of the card. You can try to act cool about it and palm the card while you read it off (also make sure to scratch off the scratch-off before hand), but the cashier is definitely going to notice the transaction is different than normal. You really gotta hope they either don't care or are too busy to care to question your payment method.

FWIW, Gamestop will have PS5 bundles in-stock in-store tomorrow, but you have to be a current paid Rewards Pro member ($15) and have to buy a bundle with

PlayStation 5 Console
Extra DualSense Controller
Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart
PowerA DualSense Charging Dock
Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales Ultimate Edition
Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut
$50 GameStop Gift Card

and if you're not reading this from your place in line outside GameStop waiting for them to open tomorrow, you're probably already out of luck.
