Appears 820 has dolby vision. I thought it also had more HDR Tone Mapping modes or something extra in it's HDR Optimizer…

missed the Sony UBP-X700M deal at targe last time, is this UB420 a better or worse deal?

Better if you just have Samsung tv which doesn't do Dolby vision and just does HDR 10 and 10 +

I have Xbox series x. How does it perform 4k playback if compared with this 4k player?

Was wondering the same thing. Picked up the Sony, but now wondering if I should return and get this. My main TV does not have Dolby Vision, but I do plan on replacing it within the next two years to one that does. Not sure if the difference between HDR and Dolby Vision is that noticeable.
The one with the best upscaler probably matters most, as 99% of my collection is blu-ray.

I don't know if the quality has gone down hill but my first blue ray player I got in 2012 was a Panasonic unit and I am happy to report that it does last a long thing as mine died last week do to a power surge, so if you are concerned about how long this would last it will last you a long time.

I'm not a Blu ray collector and my ps5 and Xbox are more than enough for my few disc's. I stream 99.9%. If you are in the same boat get the nvda shield

Consoles don't have dolby vision support for blu ray playback

If you have a home theater speaker set up, physical media is worth it over streaming. If you're using the speakers built into your TV or a soundbar, you won't notice much difference with blu ray vs streaming. The immense difference is in the audio quality.

Even if your Sony TV has Dolby Vision, apperently you still need it for the blu ray too.
