Never had the last version. Got a pair of these and don't like them. They don't have a good fit in my ear and there isn't adjustable ear pieces to fit my ear.
I am not an audiophile, and I can't comment on the quality of these Anker earphones. However, the folks at New York Times Wirecutter did a thorough review of many true wireless headphones https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutte...s-earbuds/. Their budget pick is right now available for ~$40 on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/EarFun-Blu...B092M34HQ3. Unless you are an audiophile and know it better than the reviewers at Wirecutter, I would suggest sticking with their expert's recommendation.
I currently have these in my ears right now. Just finished a conference call where I could hear everyone and everyone could hear me without issue.
Music sounds great, which is pretty normal with these Ankers. My SO has the AirPod Pros, so I've used both extensively. Music is almost identical between the two, but I would give the edge to these. Transparency mode on the AirPods works better than the Ankers, but only because the AirPods have really nailed that. Noise cancelling works great. They hold a charge for a long time and the case is nice enough.
All that being said, this is an amazing price point for these

Wirecutter recommendations are paid shill nonsense. Definitely do NOT use Wirecutter as a reference.
They sound kinda of cheap and thin compared to my Airpods Pro, but they're way less expensive and are a decent backup pair. I do like the way these fit and haven't had Bluetooth dropout issues like I've had with other lower-end earbuds.
They sound good, largely because it has an equalizer that's best in the business. Pretty much for true wireless. You'll be able to squeeze out & you like out of it because the EQ options are pretty much endless. It also has ldac, which is usually only available in the most expensive price points. So I think this is a pretty compelling deal. I'm not crazy about the size though. I don't mind the stem but it's a little big around the base and I always want to push it further in my ear than it lets me.
But ldac, The sound core app, ANC, transparency mode, it's a good package for $50 and this is the lowest price I've seen. The life P3 are comparable but they don't have ldac.

Huh, that's not my impression personally, but this is obviously very subjective. But I think these sound a lot better than AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro, however, are more comfortable, better active noise cancellation and better transparency mode. But sound? EQ options? Noise isolation? These are more about audio and less about lifestyle convenience
Although if you're using an iPhone, you can't take advantage of the high quality codec. On an Android you'll be able to use these with LDAC. iPhone does not give you access to high quality codec unfortunately.
These sound AMAZING. I bought them a couple weeks ago when they had the surprise double-sale ($50 off making them $79, then $50 off that yet again, making them $29).
Very rich, tight bass, and just a very nice sound for the music I listen too. RTINGS has a good review on these.

Are you trying to conserve letters? Or perhaps trying to avoid filters that say no to refurbished?
