I don't know about the carrier portion, but regardless when activating an unlocked phone it doesn't get locked. You can always take out the sim and swap with another sim anytime.
this is not true, I know in the past I've heard of several carriers that would lock them even though they are "unlocked" models.

It figures. I went to get my S7 out of the drawer where it's been collecting dust and it's battery is swollen so much, it broke the back frame and is exposed.
The good news is nothing bad happened and I can dispose of the battery properly.

Can someone who's gotten this deal please post on whether you received the trade in value up front or are they making it come via bill credits?

I'd love to pair this with the $399 S21 with activation on T-Mobile. I can trade in my ancient S7 and get an S21 for $200. I don't see why I wouldn't be able to call T-Mobile right away to cancel the line. That'd be an extremely slick deal!

I just ordered the TMo version, trading in my S20+ for 675 credit, total of 200ish out the door with immediate payment (no payment plan). Had upgraded my daughter from S9 to S20 the other day at BB with the 399 deal. Trade in value, if you pay immediately, happens up front. Super easy process. Also, if coming from another Samsung phone, use Smart Switch in store to transfer everything. Otherwise I'd recommend backing everything up on your own before going to the store.

I actually prefer the s20 Plus because it has a quad HD screen and more RAM and Samsung pay. And it comes with the charger

I just stopped by BB store in NJ. S21 ultra are pretty much sold out in NJ. They ordered one for me and processed trade-in ($450 gift card for Note 10). Once I receive the phone I will go back to store and comol the transaction. BB kept the gift card with them! Thanks to OP.

The BB rep said, even though you pick up an unlocked phone but if you insert the SIM (that came with your line activation in the purchase) it will be locked for 40+ days for T-mobile (I don't know about other carriers). One way to avoid is ask the BB Rep not to insert the SIM and when you get out of the store, insert any other carriers SIM for the very first time.

Disclaimer: I haven't done this so don't hold me on the above statement, I just quoting what BB rep said.

I'm a little confused by these deals. Do you have to sign up for an unlimited plan? And can you just quit after a month? Do they do a hard credit pull?
If you are confused, TMobile executives and MBA recent grads, have done their job right.

You insert another carriers sim then it could get locked to another carrier. Who knows.
