Rather than this buy the Google Stadia for $22. It comes with the Controller, Chromecast Ultra and a 20W USB C fast charger

The sad part it even the Slickdeals editor doesn't know how nonsensical that description is.

And just to clarify for everybody, it's a USB-C charging block. It has no USB-A port. It does not come with a cable. It can fast-charge an iPhone using a USB-C to Lightning charging cable.

There are no mechanical or any intelligence chips components inside but yet these adapter costs so much.

Would fast charging 20W bricks like these degrade the phone's battery longevity and capacity quicker than, say, slower 5W USB-A bricks?

If you want to keep your battery as long as possible... it has been proven that you should only charge the device until 80 - 85%.

My tablet has a feature that limits the charge to 85%, and my pixel 6 pro has Adaptive Battery and Adaptive Charging and i turned these two features on to promote longevity.

There are apps that can mimic what Samsung does.

normally i'm against buying apple's over priced accessories, but i have a $10 off $30 coupon that i got in the mail. so i'll get 2 of these for $20. i guess that's not bad

Compared to a 5W brick, there is no difference at all. Battery longevity is based on how full it gets and how many cycles are on it... and all of these bricks are smart enough to only charge to a certain amount, let it drain a bit, charge again, etc. The 20W and 5W bricks are going to have the same affect in the end. One just charges faster than the other.

Anker will work fine for the first three months and then start to fall apart. The ONLY cables and chargers that have consistently worked for me and lasted over a year came from Samsung and Apple. Literally everything else sold on Amazon, etc. is basically different levels of junk. At least Anker is near the top, but they don't last and will gradually degrade after the first several months. I swear these things are engineered for positive reviews for the first 90 days, and then things fall apart. Reliable fast charging goes first, then suddenly you have to fiddle with it to stay connected. I now stick with more costly brand names, just because the reliability is there.

I admit I'm not a battery expert, but recall reading that it's not just number of cycles. Battery temperature also plays into longevity. And charging at 20w increases the battery temp more than a 5w.

The included charger with the Stadia Controller is only 7.5W. I have 2 of them.
