I haven't found this to be remotely the case in my use. Smooth as butter, very quick and haven't had the first bug or glitch.

Be aware that if you are a Cricket customer looking for a phone to use on their network this will NOT work starting February of 2022. It has to be the IN2015, which the T-Mobile version is not.

Sure. But it's no different with Android. Google knows your entire life what with your Chrome history, emails, google drive, play store, etc. And iOS is more strict with their anti-tracking measures for all apps on iPhone. So yes they're still tracking me, but at least I know it's them, rather than Google + all the random, unseen 3P sources who are tracking and piggybacking off the looser permissions. We're all being tracked either way. Pick your poison.

I think Apple has clearly been leading the way and is still continuing to. All the trends in smartphones from original iPhone to incremental changes like no more SD cards, no more headphone jacks, no more charger included, notch design, best ultrawide and night mode camera have been standardized when Apple pushed them into iPhone lines and Android has followed. Android phones have certainly pushed the envelope as well over the years with widgets and Google cross-device sync and things like water resistance and sturdy designs in some models, but these features aren't seen in flagship lines that sell in the tens of millions and become industry minimum standard until Apple does it. Every phone release is compared to iPhone so apple still sets the bar in my eyes while android lines are far more inconsistent and not the mainstream until Apple does it.

I say this as someone whose used Android since Cupcake on Samsung Galaxy 1 btw. I've owned and tried 7 different android phones over the years and at best they performed as well as the iPhone 12 Pro I got last summer does. I still miss Android sometimes, but it's easy to see why IPhones lead the way if you can afford it. They just set a really high bar that's designed for everyday use and most situations.
Well I would not say Apple is leading the way in. Some yes but most of the features that they "introduce" are already in place by other phone manufacturers. Samsung created the first big phone; iPhone followed. Android had better notification; now Apple also has it.

But what we we cannot deny is that when Apple "introduce" a feature, it's most likely always polished, complete, properly and fully working. They focus on few hardware versions and ensure quality in those. It also helps that they control both the hardware and software.

The website seems buggy when checking out as guest. I couldn't place an order. It went through after I created an account.

I had the exact same issue. T-Mobile said they didn't have the IMEI in their system. OnePlus customer support was absolutely no help. I wound up having to RMA the phone which was a shame because I liked everything about it and I wanted to use it with Red Pocket AT&T.

Thanks for sharing. This method does not work for me (at least at this moment). Not sure if I should turn to OnePlus or T-mobile.

I am with RedPocket. Any suggestions regarding how to deal with the situation are weclome.

I'm using Mint. I have the 8 and was easy to unlock. I would imagine that the 8T would be the same

I used this to unlock it

Unlocking

WITH SIM CARD OUT and CONNECTED TO WIFI here's a good step by step.

Its settings -> wifi & network -> Sim&network -> At the bottom "network unlock". I requested permanent unlock,

It might take a couple of minutes or even fail. If it does fail just do it again until it works

Wow, we are in the exact same boat. I am with Red Pocket AT&T, too. Thanks for sharing.

Just wonder if the device will work if we switch to GSMT...

I don't have the 8T so I can't confirm if it works or not on that model. It does work on the 8. Have you tried it a few times ? What does it say

I have requested at least 20 times (among which 3 involved restarting the phone). The error code is 255 and it basically says "This mobile device is not eligible for unlock."

I don't know, I considered trying that but in the past I've had issues with T-Mobile so I prefer to stick with AT&T via RP. Also, I wasn't sure if it could be unlocked after being on a TMobile MVNO or not.

I tried everything including resetting the network settings and doing a factory reset. I fought it with for nearly a week before I threw in the towel. I spent over an hour on the phone with T-Mobile CS and talked to 3 different people. They said they had turned my case over to their network unlock (support?) team who would contact me with within 24-72 hours. That before Christmas and I still haven't heard from them. I RMA'd the phone and got a notification yesterday that paypal had received the refund.
