Has anyone here tried unlocking bootloader, flashing international or European firmware? If you relock the bootloader afterwards, do you pass safetynet, retain widevine status, correct info in "about phone"?

Also once you relock the bootloader, does the firmware ever try to prevent future unlocks?

I used to flash custom ROMs but these days, I need google pay, bank apps, Netflix etc to work reliably.

Received the 8T today. Was not able to unlock it after multiple attempts, restarts, factory resets etc. I was able to unlock 8 which I received last week in the very first attempt though. I have requested a return from OnePlus. Still waiting on the shipping label. Planning to get new 8T from Swappa Unlocked for $450. I still think paying $450 for 8T is a good deal.

Thanks for sharing. This method does not work for me (at least at this moment). Not sure if I should turn to OnePlus or T-mobile.

I am with RedPocket. Any suggestions regarding how to deal with the situation are weclome.

I'm using Mint. I have the 8 and was easy to unlock. I would imagine that the 8T would be the same

I used this to unlock it

Unlocking

WITH SIM CARD OUT and CONNECTED TO WIFI here's a good step by step.

Its settings -> wifi & network -> Sim&network -> At the bottom "network unlock". I requested permanent unlock,

It might take a couple of minutes or even fail. If it does fail just do it again until it works"

Wow I just got my 8.

It really was this simple to unlock. Took like 60 seconds. Can't comment 8t

I'm planning to return this device as it's not able to unlock. I'll use OnePlus 8 which works great!
Does it have dual sim slots or only one?

Looks like it's my firefox browser and all of the protection plugins screwing with the page load. Thanks for the reply as I would have never known.

Watch out this company's customer service if you would ever need it.
I had OnePlus 6T and thank god I don't have issue till this time buying new deal OP8.
I can't get a straight answer from their rep who will take several days to get one reply. Trade-in is a huge pain that they judt de-value all old phones and mine suddenly drop $100.
On the other hand, their order process will not help you to get the job done, they missed out my trade-in and no one to help.
On top of that, T-Mobile locked version is a piece of J*** compared to unlock version.

They must not have really had many of these on hand if they sold out of the silver at $399.

Does the $20 voucher have an expiration date?

The T-Mobile variant has one SIM card slot only while the unlocked variant has dual SIM card tray.

Spent one week with t-mobile over the phone and chat sessions. No one at t-mobile voice or chat support could get my phone unlocked after seven days even when escalated to supervisor level. Finally after reading this thread and other comments on the internet, I reached out to @TMobileHelp on twitter. The twitter t-mobile support said that a special request must be made for unlocking if purchased from the manufacturer directly. My oneplus 8t was unlocked in 24 hours. All that I needed to show was the receipt from oneplus.com (used a screenshot) showing it was paid in full and I was good to go.

Will flash the European version so I can use dual sim support. Sweet.

This is really one nice and smooth phone! I will probably wait to bootloader unlock.

Summary - If you are a postpaid t-mobile customer and the 8t is paid in full you don't have to wait 40 days to sim/network unlock (Mobile device unlock (MDU) is the term t-mobile uses) and reach out to @TMobileHelp on twitter to request a special unlock for a device purchased directly from the manufacturer. That should do it and it worked like a charm.

Hope this helps

Yes, so does other models like oneplus 8. But since you're buying out the phone, you can unlock the carrier. There're posts on this forum about it on how to do it as well.
link for where the post is? mine failed to unlock
