I think it's the principal. It is almost scalping by the store companies themselves. I know that manufacturers are insisting you buy other stuff for video cards, but I don't know for a fact that MS/Sony are actually making Gamestop buy more Sony products in order to get their hands on these. So the end result is, the perception that Gamestop is trying to sell you more useless crap. I mean you were already paying a base price of $500 and now you're up to $800... But I get what you are saying as well.

Direct. PlayStation. Com. Scroll down, find the sign up thingy. Once they send you the email that you'll be in a queue for one (it will be a couple month wait), keep that email. They won't send another. I work retail and I locked up the shop during the time frame mine was set for. The process took about 10 minutes total. Yes it's a pain in the ass but I got a ps5 at retail cost without having to bundle.

they charged $900 when i went last friday. made us buy 2 year warrantee on the ps5 and 1 year warantees on the charger and controller. they had 60 in stock and there were 25 people in line when they opened.

Bought one from last drop for $850 week ago, go there when store opens, they had a lot of them and the price is fair in my opinion. I got extra controller in red color, 3 games(ghost of tsushima, spider man ultimate and ratchet and clank), charger and $50 gift card.

All retailers? Target just dropped an hour ago and sold ps5 consoles to everyone. No membership required, but they and Sony are probably the only ones without a buyers membership.

Was able to grab one there and use my target rewards. I do need to signup for their red card.

yes red card does save 5% , IF target cancels your order go through a CSR chat and ask for 20% off your next order.

Same issues persist with all the NFL card scalpers/scumbags. My 11yo just started collecting last year - my goodness the insanity to get a box of cards…scumbags I tell ya

Maybe it's changed now. I got mine 6 months ago and got an email 4 days after signing up letting me know they were going on sale the next day. Just had to click on the link right when it opened up at the designated time and it was a 10 min wait to get in the store. Was able to get in and purchase the system and controller. Couldn't have been an easier process. Now if I would have clicked the link in the invite like 10 minutes after it opened up, that probably would have been a different story with perhaps the hour wait time and then being sold out.
