What are you on about? You're comparing knives that are 2-3x more of the cost of this Elementum and pretending like they're the same price. No, a Civivi at full price isn't "in Spyderco pricing territory" as you claim. Taking your own example in the link you provided, that "cheap" (crappy) Para 3 has a MSRP of $170, compared to this S35VN Elementum's MSRP of $93.50. Sale price of the Para 3 is at $119, while this Elementum is at $60. The Spyderco is twice as expensive than this knife and the Para you linked has inferior steel and handle material.

I own a nice DLC Cruwear Para 3, a tricked out DLC M4 Paramilitary 2 with custom Fat Carbon handles and titanium hardware, and a carbon fiber 535-3 Bugout. They're all great knives, but to compare them to a Civivi Elementum is just dumb and ridiculous. Those are all premium knives which costs a lot more than this knife.

Elementum is a good, cheap EDC knife. At this price with S35VN, it's not overrated like you're saying and it's a great deal.

Civivi is specifically the mid range brand of the higher end WE knives. Civivi/WE/Sencut and Spyderco all make great knives at different price points. Just depends on what you're into. The elementum is a go-to recommendation of mine to those who are new to EDC carrying. For those who would like to step up to the 150ish range, I agree that the para3 and PM2 are time proven, solid knives. The compression lock coupled with the spydiehole are fantastic.

I just don't think poo-pooing a knife that is specifically priced for a different type of user is fair.

Absolutely man! Sorry I'm not trying to change your mind. I'm making a counter point. But you're also recommending a knife that is double the price of this sale knife. Sure full-price to full-price maybe the para3 lw might be better recommendation than an s35vn elementum. But that's not this discussion. All that being said what would be your go to at $60 instead of this elementum? I think that could be helpful to others viewing this deal. I'm trying to think of knives other than Civivi that are better at this price point. The ferrum forge stinger is occasionally on sale for around this price I think. That would be a good option. What might you recommend at $60 for people to compare to?

Had one and lost it. Buying again bc I liked it so much. Was my edc probably 70% of the time, out of roughly 30 knives, from other civivi, to Benchmades in 20cv.

I have an elementum (among many other civivi) in d2 and it's great. Oddly, the civivi 9cr18movs I have (backlash, praxis and chronic) hold a fine edge. The sencut citius in 9cr18 do not.

I can say I'd choose my Bugout over my Elementum for EDC use. The Elementum doesn't have the best shape for gripping the handle. The Bugout doesn't have the best handle/scales either, but at least it was designed to be streamlined and you don't notice it in your pocket. The Bugout does what it was designed to do better than the Elementum does. It also has a better locking mechanism.

Are any of the "aftermarket" handles worth a damn? Just checking things out it seems like people like to cutomize them

I have not changed mine, but Flytanium makes great stuff. Their scales aren't cheap so be prepared.
